Child safety on the road - basic rules, features and recommendations. Keeping children safe on the road Why accidents happen

95 percent of your peers who have suffered road accidents were hit by cars in situations that repeatedly occur. They are called road traps. And today we will learn how to solve them, and also learn the basic rules for the safety of children on the road.

To comply safety rules for children on the road  you need to know some traps that keep you on the road.

Trap # 1 - “My Bus!” We must run away soon! ”

You are late (for training, music, meeting friends) and suddenly you see that your bus is on. You have one thought in your head: “Hurry up to jump into it!” This is where the main danger lies. Indeed, in this case, children (and many adults) do not see anything around. And they cross the road without stopping and without looking back.

Trap number 2 "The car is slow, have time to run across"

So usually children think and fall under the car. Indeed, one machine may be hiding another, which goes at high speed.

Trap # 3 “I'm safe at the bus stop!”

Do you know that according to statistics, three times more children get into traffic accidents in the stopping area than at the intersection. Remember, in order not to get under the car, the bus cannot be bypassed either in front or behind! It is imperative to wait until he leaves.

Trap No. 4 "There is no danger!"

Very dangerous cars and buses standing at the side of the road. They block the road, and you will not be able to notice the approaching transport, and the driver will not see you and will not have time to brake. Therefore, always peer carefully because of such obstacles, and only then start moving.

Trap No. 5 “Not a Step Back!”

If you are standing on the center line dividing the road, then remember that you need to monitor not only the cars that drive up to the right. We must remember the cars that ride behind! Frightened, you can take a step back - right under the wheels of the car that drove up to the left. If you had to stop in the middle of the street, do not make a single movement without looking around. Watch for cars approaching you on the right and left.

And remember! The road must not be crossed, it only needs to cross! The machine cannot stop instantly, even if the driver applies the brake. She will drive a few meters further along the road, so you will not have time to take a step back.

The road and railway are a source of increased danger for any pedestrians, and especially for children who have an undeveloped sense of danger in front of moving vehicles. A person’s innate defensive reflex in road conditions can play a cruel joke. Instead of running out onto the carriageway, the child jumps away from a moving car and falls under the wheels that follow the car. Parents should provide road safety for the children, holding their hand, moving along the transition. Road safety for children involves a series of prohibitions, the need for which must be clarified to the child as early as possible. The kid needs to know that the car cannot stop instantly, it will certainly travel a few more meters, and the braking distance of railway transport is much longer. Therefore, games near roads and railways are strictly prohibited.
  The child must know the following safety rules for children on the road:
  - under no circumstances do you need to run out onto the roadway;
  - Do not try to touch a car moving at low speed;
  - Do not touch the wheels of a car standing in the courtyard, moreover, do not use it for hide and seek;
  - a standing car must be bypassed behind or in front only at such a distance at which it is possible to run away to the side when the movement suddenly begins;
  - Having seen a car moving in the yard, it is necessary to step aside and wait until the car passes.
  Ensuring safety on the road for children should be handled by adults nearby, regardless of who they have a child. From early childhood, it is necessary to explain to the child the rules of the road for pedestrians, strengthening knowledge with their own example.
  Children need to know the following points, which are important to follow in any circumstances:
  - you need to cross the street only in those places where there is a road marking: “zebra”, and the traffic light turns green;
  - adults best ensure the safety of children on the road, therefore, if a child is afraid or does not decide to cross the road on his own, then you can wait for any adults to cross the road with them;
- in no case can you cross the roadway - traffic on the road should be only a step;
  - Do not rush to go on the road, having missed the first moving car, other cars can go behind it;
  - if there is an underground or elevated passage, it must be used even with an acute shortage of time;
  - when crossing the roadway, according to the safety requirements on the road, it is important for children to know that first of all you should look left, then right;
  - when driving down the street at night, children need to attach reflective elements to clothes or backpacks, this will help drivers passing by, a few hundred meters from the car to see the child on the road;
  - buses, trams, minibuses - it is dangerous to get around from either side, either in front or behind, you must wait for the bus to leave the stop and only then cross the roadway. It is better to cross the street along the crossing, having passed the "extra" meters to the right or left along the road. According to safety requirements, you can’t stand on the sidelines at public transport stops, you need to be on a special platform.
  It is important for every child to understand that the road is a danger to life.
  Drivers should be especially vigilant against young pedestrians and passengers, including their own children. According to clause 22.9 of the SDA of the Russian Federation:
  Transportation of children under the age of 7 years in a passenger car and truck cab, the design of which provides seat belts or seat belts and the ISOFIX child restraint system, must be carried out using child restraint systems (devices) that are appropriate for the weight and height of the child;
  Transportation of children from 7 to 11 years old (inclusive) in a passenger car and a truck’s cab, the design of which provides seat belts or seat belts and the ISOFIX child restraint system, must be carried out using child restraint systems (devices) that are appropriate for the weight and height of the child , or using seat belts, and in the front seat of a car - only using child restraint systems (devices) that are appropriate for the weight and height of the child;
  It is forbidden to transport children under the age of 12 years in the back seat of a motorcycle.
When driving in cars, drivers need to slow down near children's educational and preschool institutions. Particular vigilance should be shown when driving in a residential area. Before parking or starting off, make sure that none of the children are nearby.
  It is important for parents to know that the psyche of the child is designed in such a way that parents can never harm him. Therefore, kids fearlessly approach their parents' cars, considering them as safe as dad and mom. The child should be explained that it is dangerous to be in close proximity to the car, regardless of whose car is moving or standing nearby.

Relevance of the topic

The speed of movement, the density of traffic flows on the streets and roads of our country are growing rapidly, and will progress in the future. Therefore, ensuring traffic safety is becoming an increasingly public task. Of particular importance in solving this problem is the early and proper preparation of our smallest pedestrians - children who already face serious difficulties and dangers outside the gates of the house, and who will have to live with an incomparably greater intensity of car traffic.

Traffic accidents are most often caused by children themselves. This leads to ignorance of the basic principles of traffic rules, the indifferent attitude of adults to the behavior of children on the roadway. Left to their own devices, children, especially young children, reckon little with real dangers on the road. This is explained by the fact that they are not able to correctly determine the distance to an approaching machine and its speed and overestimate their own capabilities, consider themselves fast and dexterous. They have not yet developed the ability to anticipate the possibility of danger in a rapidly changing road environment. Therefore, they calmly run out onto the road in front of a stopped car and suddenly appear in the path of another. They consider it quite natural to go out onto the roadway with a children's bike or start a fun game here.

Unfortunately, many parents have a misconception that a child must be taught safe behavior on the streets closer to the time he goes to kindergarten or school. But thinking so is dangerous! After all, children have a whole range of habits (imperceptibly for him and for us) develops from early childhood. Including a manner of behavior. Therefore bthe safety of a preschooler in many respects depends on what kind of knowledge parents put in his head in early childhood. Children under the age of five do not realize the whole danger of the world around them, cannot think ahead, and live only in the present, without thinking about the consequences that one or another of their actions can lead to. At this age, it is very important to ensure the safety of the preschooler and put knowledge into his head that you should analyze your actions a bit and think about the consequences.

Dear Moms and Dads!

The best way to save your life and the life of your child on the road is to follow the rules of the road!

The question may arise: why explain to children the peculiarities of the traffic, the rules for crossing the street, if the kids are crossing the road, just holding the hand of an adult? Maybe you should not bother them with these rules while they are not yet walking on the streets on their own, do not use public transport ? But we must always remember that the formation of conscious behavior is a long process. This is today a child everywhere walks by the handle with his mother, and tomorrow, he will become an independent pedestrian and passenger in public transport.

Work on teaching children the rules of competent and safe behavior on the streets of the city, in public transport should be systematic. In order for it to bring the necessary results, one lesson or conversation with children is not enough. And one more important requirement: theoretical knowledge is not enough for children, they must put it into practice.

In kindergarten we conduct conversations, classes, games, entertainment, exhibitions on this topic. But this is not enough - the practical application of this knowledge rests entirely on your shoulders. The unity of our and your requirements for children is the safety conditions for our children!

traffic rules

Upon leaving home   - if movement is possible at the entrance of the house, immediately pay attention to the child if there is an approaching transport. If vehicles are standing at the entrance or trees are growing, stop your movement and look around to see if there is any danger.

When driving on the sidewalk - stick to the right side. The adult must be on the road side. If the sidewalk is near the road, parents should hold the child’s hand. Accustom your child, walking along the sidewalk, to carefully monitor the exit of cars from the yard. Do not teach children to go out on the carriageway, carry strollers and sledges only on the sidewalk. Getting ready to cross the road - stop, inspect the roadway. Develop your child's observation of the road. Emphasize your movements: turning your head to inspect the road. A stop for inspection of the road, a stop for passing cars. Teach your child to peer into the distance, to distinguish between approaching cars. Do not stand with the child on the edge of the sidewalk. Pay attention to the child preparing the vehicle for the turn, tell us about the signals of direction indicators for cars. Show how the vehicle stops at the transition, how it moves by inertia.

When crossing the carriageway   - Cross the road only at a pedestrian crossing or at an intersection. Only go to the green traffic light, even if there are no cars. When leaving the roadway, stop talking. Do not rush, do not run, cross the road measuredly. Do not cross the street at an angle; explain to the child that the road is seen worse. Do not go out onto the roadway with a child due to vehicles or bushes without first inspecting the street. Take your time to cross the road, if on the other side you saw friends, the right bus, teach your child that this is dangerous.

When crossing an unregulated intersection   - Teach your child to carefully monitor the start of traffic. Explain to the child that even on the road where there are few cars, you must proceed carefully, as the car can leave the yard, from the alley.

When boarding and disembarking from transport - go out first, in front of the child, otherwise the child may fall, run out onto the roadway. Only approach the door after stopping completely. Do not get into the transport at the last moment (it can pinch the doors). Teach your child to be careful in the stopping area - this is a dangerous place (poor visibility of the road, passengers can push the child onto the road).

When driving in a private car - Use special child seats.

Waiting for transport - Stand only on landing sites, on the sidewalk, or on the side of the road.

Street switching skill - approaching the road, stop, look at the street in both directions. The skill of calm, confident behavior on the street: when leaving home, do not be late, leave early in order to have a reserve of time when walking calmly.

The skill of switching to self-control   - The ability to monitor your behavior is formed daily under the guidance of parents.

Hazard prediction skill - the child must see with his own eyes that danger is often hidden behind various objects on the street. It is important that parents set an example for children in complying with traffic regulations. Do not rush, cross the road in measured steps. When leaving the carriageway, stop talking - the child must get used to the fact that when crossing the road you need to concentrate. Do not cross the road with a red or yellow traffic signal. Cross the road only in places marked with the pedestrian crossing sign. From the bus, trolley, tram, taxi, get out first. Otherwise, the child may fall or run on the carriageway. Involve your child in your observation of the situation on the road: show him those cars that are preparing to turn, drive at high speed, etc. Do not go out with the child because of the car, bushes, without having examined the roads beforehand - this is a typical mistake, and children should not be allowed to repeat it. Do not allow children to play near roads and on the carriageway.

It is enough at least once a week for 10-15 minutes to conduct a conversation-game with your child according to the Rules of the Road so that he looks at the situation with different eyes. Such a child in the future will independently be able to navigate in a difficult situation on city highways. In the midst of the summer holidays, many children go to rest outside the city and find themselves in a completely different, unusual environment for them. And if the child is well versed in the Rules of the Road, parents can be calm for him. A common mistake made in such cases is the wrong approach to starting a conversation. Talking with the children about the dangers of the road is too strict and inefficient. In this case, the child will not be interested in the conversation and as a result will learn only a small part of the information. It is much more effective to talk with the child calmly, choosing the moment when he is not busy with anything and his attention is at your disposal. Before explanations, indicate the importance and seriousness of the conversation, let the baby feel its significance. His attention near the road should be a request, not a requirement. He must understand that they worry about him and are in danger. Such motivation is much stronger than fears of punishment or reproaches.

Dear Parents!

You are a model of behavior for children. You are an object of love and imitation for a child. This must always be remembered, and even more so when you take a step on the carriageway with your baby.

So that the child does not get into trouble, instill in him respect for the rules of the road patiently, daily, and unobtrusively.

The child should only play in the yard under your supervision. He must know: you cannot go out on the road.

Do not intimidate the child, but observe with him and use the situation on the road, yard, street; Explain what happens to vehicles, pedestrians.

Develop a child’s visual memory, attention. To do this, create game situations at home.

Let your baby bring you to kindergarten and home from kindergarten.

Your child should know:

    you cannot go out on the road;

    the road can only be crossed with an adult, holding on to his hand;

    you must cross the road at the transition with a calm step;

    pedestrians are people who walk along the street;

    in order to keep order on the road, so that there are no accidents, so that the pedestrian does not get under the car, one must obey the traffic light: red light means there is no movement, yellow light means attention, and green says: “Come on - the way is open”;

    cars are different (trucks, cars) - they are driven by drivers. The highway is intended for transport (road). When we go in transport, we are called passengers. When driving in transport, you can’t lean out of the window.

List of the most dangerous items for the child in the house.

    Outlets!

    Batteries, especially during the heating season (the baby may get burned or just put his arm or leg in there!)

    Creeping around the room wires.

    Doors (kids love to open and close them so much that they can pinch their hands).

    Any equipment in the house.

    The kitchen is the most dangerous part of the house (think for yourself what dangers lurk in the electric kettle, washing machine, electric or gas stove, glassware, in a waste bucket).

7. Each room has a window that you want to look into, even if you need to stand on the windowsill ...

    Tablecloth on the table (the child can easily pull on the tablecloth, and then everything that is on the table, no matter how heavy it is, will certainly fall).

    Small objects (they seem very attractive to the child, they want to be picked up, twisted, and even tasted, but nobody knows where else the child can put them ...)

We suggest that you continue the list yourself, based on the characteristics of your home, and immediately take all necessary precautions!

Memo for parents

"Children's safety on the road"

Road safety is a duty that requires great responsibility from the parents or guardians of children, and this should never be neglected.

“If a child is obsessed with the game or has set himself some goal, then hardly anything can stop him. Therefore, it is imperative that your child knows a few simple rules to be careful in the yard and on the road. ”

It is necessary to teach children not only to observe the rules of the movement, but also from a very early age to teach them to observe and navigate. It must be borne in mind that the main way to form behavioral skills is observation, imitation of adults, especially parents. Many parents, not understanding this, teach their children improper behavior on the road by personal example.

Being with the child on the carriageway, do not rush, cross the road in measured steps. Otherwise, you will learn to rush where you need to observe and comply with safety rules.

Do not send your child to cross or cross the road in front of you - this is how you teach him to cross the road without looking around. A small child needs to be held tightly by the hand, be prepared to hold when trying to break out - this is a typical cause of accidents.

Teach your child to watch. The child must have developed a solid skill: before taking the first step from the sidewalk, he turns his head and inspects the road in all directions. This should be brought to automaticity.

Teach your child to notice the car. Sometimes a child does not notice a car or motorcycle in the distance. Teach him to peer into the distance.

Teach your child to evaluate the speed and direction of movement of the machine. Teach your child to determine which car is driving straight and which one is preparing for the turn.

Firmly master yourself and teach your child that you can enter and exit any type of transport only when it is standing. Explain to your child why you shouldn’t jump on the go.

Make a “Route Sheet” for your child from home to school. Remember, you must choose not the shortest, but the safest way. Follow this route several times with your son or daughter, make sure that the child has firmly learned this path.

When driving on the sidewalk

Stick to the right side.

Getting ready to cross the road

Stop, inspect the roadway.

When crossing the carriageway

Cross the road only at a pedestrian crossing or at an intersection.

When crossing an unregulated intersection, teach your child to carefully monitor the start of traffic.

Explain to the child that even on the road where there are few cars, you must proceed carefully, as the car can leave the yard, from the alley.

When boarding and disembarking from transport

Get out first, in front of the child, otherwise the child may fall, run out onto the roadway.

Only approach the door after stopping completely.

Do not get into the transport at the last moment (it can pinch the doors).

Teach your child to be careful in the stopping area - this is a dangerous place (poor visibility of the road, passengers can push the child onto the road).

Waiting for transport

Stand only on landing sites, on the sidewalk, or on the side of the road.

Skill of switching to the street: approaching the road, stop, inspect the road in both directions.

Skill of calm, confident behavior on the street: when leaving home, do not rush, leave in advance, so that when you walk calmly, you have a margin of time.

Skill of switching to self-control: the ability to monitor your behavior is formed daily under the guidance of parents.

The skill of predicting danger: the child must see with his own eyes that danger is often hidden behind various objects on the street.

Make the baby noticeable

In the dark, poor visibility is added to all road hazards. At dusk, on a roadway uncovered with snow, a person in discreet clothes is simply not visible, even if the driver is driving, following the rules, with the dipped headlights turned on. In addition to the moral impact, we can affect the safety of your children by providing them with objects with reflective elements — these can be all kinds of flickers — luminous badges (key chains, bracelets, stripes attached to the sleeves of a jacket or bag. Flicker is visible in the headlights of a car with distances of 400 m. Wearing a flicker reduces the risk of collision with a pedestrian in the dark by 6.5 times.

Involve your child in your observations of the situation on the road: show him those cars that are preparing to turn, drive at high speed, etc.

Do not go out with the child because of the car, bushes, without having examined the roads beforehand - this is a typical mistake, and children should not be allowed to repeat it.

Do not allow children to play near roads and on the carriageway.

Remember!

Our common goal is to prepare the younger generation for real life, to give children knowledge, to instill skills in safe behavior on the road.

The child learns the laws of the road, taking an example from family members and other adults. Especially the example of father and mother teaches disciplined behavior on the road, not only your child, but other parents.

Take care of the child! Protect him from accidents.

Let's talk about a very serious topic: “Road Safety”. It applies to absolutely all people. Parents are obliged to teach their children to children from an early age. It is not recommended to run with the child to a red light, even if there are no cars in the distance. After all, you can easily "give" such a habit to the baby.

On the highway, avenue, street in the city (controlled traffic)

In large cities, as a rule, there is traffic control traffic. Of course, there are also unregulated areas with zebras. It is best and safer to cross where there is a pedestrian traffic light.

Road safety rules (controlled traffic) within the city are as follows:

  • be sure to wait until the traffic light switches to "green";
  • do not run on the "red", even if you can not see in the distance cars;
  • do not scatter when “green” is already flashing at the end of the transition;
  • when the “green” light for pedestrians lights up, do not rush to go right away, make sure that all the cars, buses, and trucks have stopped.

The last point is always better to observe. Unfortunately, pedestrians are sometimes hit even in such cases. It is clear that, most likely, the fault of the driver, but his life is more expensive than any evidence. The greatest danger is in winter in icy conditions, as well as at any time of the year during and after heavy rain. The braking distance, as a rule, increases. And it is not always physically possible to brake on time.

At intersections, also look carefully in all directions before moving on to "green."

Where there are no traffic lights, but there is a “zebra” (one-way traffic)

And now consider an option where there is no traffic light, but there is a pedestrian crossing with a “zebra”. Of course, this area is much more dangerous. But, where everything is much simpler. It is recommended to look in both directions anyway, suddenly someone is driving in reverse (giving a move back).

Do not talk on the phone, listen to music when you are heading for such a transition. You need to hear where the car is going. Even if you can’t hear it, you need to see how far it is.

Know that a car, a bus, a trolleybus, a truck should be at a respectful distance (preferably at least 300 meters) from the zebra, and the speed should not be too high. Never cross the road, especially in winter and during / after rain, when it is frozen. Road safety is a very important factor. This must always be remembered. It is enough to give a few examples where pedestrians due to personal negligence became victims of an accident. Why repeat the tragic scenario? Parents should be able to explain such things to their children.

Do not try to cross the road where there is no pedestrian zone. It is better to walk the extra 100 - 200 meters, but be calm. It is worth noting another important point: if you see that the car slows down to stop in front of the “zebra”, then do not rush to cross or even cross the road. Let the transport stop.

Two-way traffic and “zebra” without a traffic light

Where there is two-way traffic, especially multi-lane traffic, it is much more complicated and dangerous. How to ensure safety on roads of this type? Imagine you are standing at a pedestrian crossing. In the extreme row (on your side) the car stopped, go, but not very fast. See in advance whether the transport stopped in the second row, then in the third. In no case do not seek to stop the car, making it clear that you are already walking in front of it. See if all the cars stopped at the oncoming lane. If everyone has braked, feel free to proceed.

Of course, it’s calmer to go along with someone. Often you can watch the picture when pedestrians, without saying a word, wait for each other and together cross. If suddenly, walking along the sidewalk, you see a group of pedestrians ahead, which are already moving from one side to the other, do not rush. After all, cars can already start. Wait for the next right moment to proceed.

On the highway, federal highways

Very interesting, but how do people find themselves on the other side of a huge highway where there are no pedestrian zones and traffic lights? Such an example could be:

  • MKAD (Moscow Ring Road);
  • highway both within the city and beyond;
  • prospectuses within the city;
  • federal highways.

Traffic safety, especially on such roads, requires high vigilance from drivers. After all, there is a large flow of cars, there are very high speeds, the number of bands is more than five. Many motorists like to rebuild, overtake. What pedestrian areas can we talk about?

That is why there are both pedestrian crossings and covered bridges over the freeway. Although it’s hard for many to climb stairs (almost 4-5 floors of a residential building), but life is in danger.

Sure, there are pedestrian crossings in some settlements, but there should be a traffic light. Or, where there is no traffic light, the number of lanes should be as small as possible.

In no case should you run out onto the track even if there are no cars on either side.

Unfortunately, you can often find federal highways where there is a crossroads, there is a car, but there is no pedestrian traffic light. Be very careful. It is advisable to go along with other pedestrians, and not alone.

In and in the villages

A little higher we mentioned tracks with intersections and traffic lights. This happens where there is a settlement. We will tell you what safety should be on the road for children in this case:

  • unaccompanied adults are strictly forbidden to cross the road on their own;
  • if the child is riding a bicycle, in a children's car, on a scooter, the rollers are shod, tell him to get ready to walk, while holding an object next to him (rolling).

Now let's talk about roads in settlements. Very often you can see roads without sidewalks in the province, pedestrians have to go along the roadway. If there is no alternative route, then go on the safer side, preferably on the opposite side. We have a right-hand traffic in our country. Therefore, it is worth going on the left side to see oncoming traffic and on time depart as far as possible. An exception may be a sharp turn, beyond which the machine is not visible. Then you have to go where you and the driver will see it.

If it is not possible to walk on the opposite side of the curb, only in the direction of travel, then look around regularly. It is forbidden to cover your ears with headphones, talk on the phone. You should hear everything that happens behind.

On the railway

The time has come to touch upon the topic of “Rail Safety.” Modern rail transport is fast. What does it mean? Let us give an example of trains and electric trains such as Swallow, Sputnik, Sapsan, and any rolling stock with speeds exceeding 200 km / h.

Railroad tracks need to be crossed only where there are traffic lights and transitional “tracks”. If there are none, then see if there are any trains at least 500 meters away from you. In this case there should be no more than two ways. It is forbidden to go where there is an automatic turnout. Naturally, not everyone understands the field of railway transport, it’s just better to have a rule for everyone: do not cross the railway tracks in the wrong place. Only where permitted. Better to go the extra 1.5 km in safety than get under the train.

Cycling

In megacities, there are special tracks for cyclists, but not everywhere. If you don’t know the rules, be afraid of cars, drive for the first time, then in no case do not go on the road. Use the sidewalk where there are few people.

What are the basic road safety rules for lovers of two-wheeled vehicles? Getting ready to cross the road, get off the bike and walk. You can’t move along the zebra.

In the yard near the house

Here, child safety on the roads is predominant. Why? Because it is the kids who love to play in the yard. Unfortunately, there is no strict separation of where cars can ride, and where children walk, run, play. Therefore, from an early age, children need to be explained so that they do not run out to where the car can drive.

It is better for parents to repeatedly raise the topic of "Road Safety" for children, to accustom to caution, vigilance.

What happens if you don’t follow the rules?

  • numerous injuries;
  • fatal outcome;
  • damage to vehicles and pedestrian items;
  • unpleasant investigation procedures by authorities.

It is much better if a person takes the time for personal safety, waits, even if the traffic light switches only after 3 minutes, than becomes a participant in an emergency.

General rules when traveling by road or rail

So we looked at how road safety is implemented. Let's briefly list the basic rules again:

  • look around
  • do not talk on the phone;
