Paper Christmas Star: Option # 4

These incredibly beautiful Christmas stars are called Scandinavian. They can be made not only of paper, but also of cotton fabric. The algorithm is the same: cut the fabric into strips and weave.

DIY Christmas paper star: option # 5

We hope that these workshops on how to make a Christmas star out of a bmagi with your own hands inspired you and your children to exploits. And your Christmas crafts will be the best in the competition at school or kindergarten.

Good afternoon, today I am publishing an article in which I have collected a variety of ways to make New Year stars with my own hands. We will make stars paper, cardboard, sew stars from felt, crochet them. You will see simple christmas craftsaccessible to children as well complex designs  in the shape of a star.

Here are some ideas I gathered today in one general handful:

  • Stars from paper stripes using quilling technique.
  • Transparent stars with stained glass film.
  • 3D stars in 3D technology.
  • New Year stars-stickers on the window.
  • Christmas garlands with stars.
  • Six pointed stars with convex faces.
  • Stars made of cardboard modules.
  • New Year stars from the newspaper.

So, let's start our New Year star crafts.

DIY Idea # 1

Paper Star

in the technique of quilling.

Here’s the first idea - a Christmas star made from stripes of paper, twisted and glued  in quilling technique.

Even if you are not familiar with the technology of torsion from paper strips, then you just need to look carefully  pictured below to understand how this paper star is made.

First, we collect separately from paper strips five rays  –And then we glue them together.

Here in the photo below, I even highlighted each detail of paper strips separately - in different colors.

Each ray of a star consists of three short   oval rolls of paper stripes - light green lines. One twist is more authentic   - orange line. AND one roll of paper , which covers all these twists together - in the form of a single frame - the pink line in the photo below.

You yourself will appreciate how quickly your homemade New Year star out of paper turned out. You can make such a few pieces and hang them on a Christmas tree as a decoration.

And according to a very similar principle, we can create such stars. This is also essentially Quilling. But here the shapes are no longer so smooth and rounded, but more distinct and faceted. But the principle is the same.

If you carefully look at the photo below, you will see that each of the rays of the star is 2 triangles glued together  its longest of the three sides.

That is, cut 10 identical strips of paper.  From each we make a paper triangle. All ten triangles are divided into pairs. And we glue each pair with each other on the long side. We get five rays  future stars made of paper. We glue the rays together. Close the gluing center with an asterisk. We make a hole in the upper beam with a puncher to hang it on a Christmas tree by a string.

DIY idea number 2

Christmas star

FROM ROLLS from toilet paper

And here is the next idea of \u200b\u200ba star with his own hands similar to previous technique  because here, too, round paper loops stick together. Only the loops here are not glued from paper strips, but are slices of toilet roll  - and a transparent color film is stretched over each slice (cling film, or colored tape).

.

We need a roll of paper towels or toilet paper. And we will also need multicolored transparent pieces of film to fit our paper blanks for the star with.

Where to get a transparent color film for this New Year’s star craft.

Option 1 - food color polyethylene.

Option 2 - colored transparent candy wrappers from sweets.

Option 3 - color transparent packaging from bouquets, or a gift wrapper in stores with a gift department.

Option 4 - color wide adhesive tape - sold in construction or decoration stores.

Option 5 - a transparent finishing film from a hardware store. It is sold in such large rolls as wallpaper - but they can be bought in any pieces - at least 1 meter, at least 10 cm. - cut off from the roll and sold. But first you need to make sure that this film, in isolation from the paper base, gives a transparent color - that is, it transmits light. Check directly in the store - peel the corner of the film from the paper base directly on the roll and check for transparency.

How will we make New Year's transparent stars.

We cut a paper roll into identical parts-rings - and from these parts we bend ray shapes  and pentagon center  for our future star.

To fold the pentagonal center - you need measure the circumference of the roll and divide into 5 identical parts. And bend in pencil marked places.

And now for every ray of our star we have to bend BASE, which in length will coincide with the length of the side of the pentagonal center. To do this, bend the roll along the edge and measure with a ruler half the length of the side of the pentagonal midpoint  stars.

By the same principle, we wrap in the film (or colored tape) the remaining rays of the cardboard star.

And now our task is to glue all parts of the sprocket into one - connect the rays with the middle.

The easiest way is a piece of double-sided tape. Scotch tape with sticky edges on both sides.

Or you can spread it with PVA glue and dry it in a pressed form - squeeze clothespins

And in assembled form, such an asterisk is suspended by the window - so that it transmits light and looks like a New Year’s glass crafts.

By the way.

If you have a glass cutter and multi-colored pieces of glass left over from old interior doors, then you can do real glass christmas stars.

DIY Idea # 3

Christmas star

in the FAN technique.

Here in the photo below we see a six-pointed star made of paper. Even a child in a circle of children's creativity can make it. You do not need to draw anything with a compass, to build complex calculations. All you need is 1 square sheet of paper folded in a fan. And another square of newsprint (smaller).

AND   Master Class  to make such a New Year star with your own hands looks like this. Fold the square sheet so that to get six faces  - that is, three folds of the fan only (as in the photo below).

You can sheet immediately measure in width and divide this figure into 6 equal parts. And mark these parts with a pencil and make fold-folds at these marks - then we get a fan of six identical accordion blades.

And if you make patterned slots in such a star (like in a snowflake), you get a patterned Christmas star made of paper - with a beautiful openwork pattern on its rays.

That is, the fan itself (still folded) is supplemented with slots. And then we stitch the middle of the fan with a bracket, fold it in half, rotate in a circle and glue the blades of the halves encountered.

DIY Idea # 4

Christmas star

from swirling triangles.

Here we see a seven-pointed star made of paper. Due to the abundance of rays, it looks more like a snowflake. But if you change the shape of the triangle to a more elongated one, you can get a design with five rays. We lay each such tube on a round paper base smeared with glue.

DIY Idea # 5

Paper stars

In the form of a garland.

A star made of paper is often used as an element of the New Year's garland. Here I propose to consider three ways to make such a starry garland for the New Year.

Option number 1.   Here is the easiest and fastest way to thread the stars. Need a sewing machine and silhouettes of stars cut out of cardboard.

We thread the thread into the sewing machine, put a star under the machine’s foot, and guide the machine line through the star. Moreover, when the line reaches the edge of the star, we do not stop the machine and scribble further to get a long thread twisted into the line. After a few centimeters of such an empty line-chain, we again insert a star from cardboard.

Option number 2.   You can make a garland of three-dimensional stars according to the same principle. They are made on the principle of krizhki - several paper silhouettes of a star are laid on top of each other and fastened with a common machine seam. Or first you can clip these multi-layer stars.

It is not necessary to buy colored paper for a garland of paper stars. You can use the pages of old books or a stave.

Option number 3.

And you can make a garland of voluminous stars with smooth edges. If you make holes in such paper stars with a hole punch, you can stretch the thread through them - and we get a starry New Year's garland.

Here is an understandable master class that clearly shows how to make such a voluminous 3D star out of cardboard with your own hands. As we see, with a sharp stick under the ruler, we iron the arrows of the star. And then the ironed lines will already easily bend into the convex folds we need. And we get a star with faceted rays.

Those lines that lead from the center to the tip of the beam are bent outward. And the lines that lead from the center to the interradiation point are bent inward.

DIY idea number 6

Christmas star

with smooth edges.

And here is another simple way to make a star out of paper. Here you need a template (the star’s picture itself) and a ruler with which we will smooth equal bends of each face of such a star.

Look at the picture and you will see that it is a simple flat six-pointed star. She was cut out of a flat sheet of paper. And then each face was bent - in the sequence one face is bent outward, and the next face is bent inward.

To draw the six-pointed star on paper yourself, you can use ruler or compass.  First, measure the distance from the middle of the circle to its edge (that is, find out the radius of the circle). And then we measure this radius around the entire circumference with a ruler or compass. Such radii fit only six pieces  along the whole circle. These marks will be the points of the rays of our star with six rays.

Or you can use the ready-made stencil in the picture below. You can circle it directly from the screen of your computer, simply put a sheet of paper on a luminous screen - the star will shine through the paper - and outline the contours (or just the corner points) with light pencil lines. And then remove the sheet from the screen and already circle everything with a bold line.

If you want to increase or decrease size  pictures on the screen, this can be done with the buttons of your computer.

Left hand click Ctrl  on your keyboard (it is on the bottom row on the left) - and while the button is pressed, you are right-handed spin the mouse wheel  - forward to increase, back to decrease. And the size of all the pictures on the screen changes increasing or decreasing.

DIY idea number 7

Christmas star

From paper modules.

And here is a star made of paper, which is folded by interconnecting separate paper modules. How to fold such a star out of paper is shown in detail in the diagram below.

Such New Year stars from paper can be made as an independent decoration on a Christmas tree. As a decorative star for the design of the New Year holiday. Or with such paper stars you can dot a ring for a Christmas wreath.

DIY idea number 8

Christmas star

From cardboard.

And here is a simple craft surround christmas starmade of cardboard. Here (as you see in the photo) you need to cut out two identical silhouettes of a five-pointed star from cardboard.

Then in each  cardboard star do scissors cut - in a straight lineleading from the lower inter-beam to the upper peak of the beam - but don’t cut it to the end,  and stop at the center point of the star.

When we we put one slot on the slot of the second star from cardboard - we get a cross-shaped connection of two strips (perpendicular to each other). The result is 3D star.

And here is an option  when 2 stars, also cut out of thick cardboard, do not fit on top of each other - they simply lie on top of each other so that the rays of the upper star are located between the rays of the lower star. If in such a cardboard star with a blade to make openwork holes, cuts - then the star will look more elegant. And the golden sprinkles will make such a New Year star quite festive.

DIY idea number 9

Cardboard stars

BILATERAL.

Method 1 - four-beam blank

You can make a star with four rays from paper - then make the same second one, and connect them together.

Here is a detailed master class with a description of how to make 2 pieces with your own hands and put them together into one star.

Method 1 - a three-beam blank.

And these voluminous stars of paper are also made of two modules glued one to meet the other. Only here the module is not of four rays, but of three.

In a flat form, this module has such a triangular shape with serifs and fasteners on all three sides.

The module is bent along the longitudinal line of each of the three corners of the triangle. The removed modules are put on each other by notches-serifs. And it turns out a voluminous star with six rays.

DIY idea number 10

Paper stars

In the technique of ORIGAMI

You can make a star using the origami technique. That is, from a regular square sheet of paper WITHOUT USING SCISSORS. This distinguishes the fashionable Japanese origami technique - the art of transforming a square plane into a figure of any complexity.

Here such a star is also obtained from one square sheet of paper. But the process seems rather complicated. But once you understand it, how do you understand the speed and ease with which these stars appear. And having made 4 of such stars you get high-speed automatism and you can add stars almost to the blind.

And here is another star in the origami technique. Where does a paper module come from a square sheet. And from such modules-rays we add an integral star from paper.

DIY idea number 11

Christmas stars

Transparent for the window.

You can make a star out of paper to stick it on the window. Such stars look very elegant. And this is an alternative to the classic paper snowflakes that we are all used to glue on the windows during the Christmas holidays.

Making such a New Year star out of paper is quite simple. A strip of paper is folded in half. Its tips are bent to give a pointed shape. We attach the resulting module to a round base sheet. Or immediately attach to the window - to an imaginary circle.

Depending on the shape of the folds we made to give the pointed shape to our rectangle, we will get different shapes of the rays of the star. Thus, having shown an EXPERIMENTAL hitch, we can create new and new author's New Year stars on the window.

DIY idea number 12

Christmas stars

from a twisted newspaper.

And here is another star made of paper - or rather, from a sheet of newspaper. A subtle twist is made here from a newspaper spread. You can put copper wire inside the newspaper twist - this will add extra rigidity to the bent frame of the star.

After that, the blank of the star from the newspaper can be decorated. Paint, wrap with thread, glue and glitter. Or something else according to your imagination.

These are the ideas I have gathered for you in this article. Now you know a lot of ways to make a star out of paper with your mind and your own hands.
