Clutch on a chain with your own hands. Do it yourself luxury clutch! Detailed workshop. How to sew a round clutch with your own hands: pattern, description

Quite by chance I came across an interesting idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a clutch from an unnecessary book. It seems that nothing of the kind has flickered here. I hope many will like it)

In my opinion, it turns out an excellent clutch that will complement any outfit. And I hope that really bad books will go into play, which all the same should have been sent to garbage or kindling. Or you can make the frame of the book out of cardboard. Here the idea itself is very interesting! Next will be my free and clumsy translation of an English-language master class. Some points will be combined, but the numbering for convenience of comparison with the original will remain the same (yes, there turned out to be two fifth points).

To create a clutch we need:
  1. Book
  2. Cloth
  3. Needle and thread
  4. Clasp
  5. Paint and glue brushes
  6. Furniture and epoxy adhesive
  7. Matte (?) Glue Mod Podge
(* it’s not entirely clear what kind of glue this is, but I’ll leave it as it is)
Do not forget to check whether everything you need fits in your book!   (phone, mirror, lipstick, keys, or what else do you carry with you)

  So, let's begin!
1-3. First, cut the fabric to the size of the cover. We also cut out pages from the book, but so far we are not gluing them together! Glue the fabric to the cover with matte glue. To make our clutch look neat, do not forget to cut pieces from the fabric of the inner lining and stick them to the cover on the inside of the future clutch.

  4. Now get ready to glue the pages with the same matte glue. We take three sheets of waxed paper and place them in three “sections” of the pages so that these sections do not stick together. Place one sheet of waxed paper in the middle. At this point, our clutch will open. The other two are placed “around the edges”, leaving 10 pages on each side of the cover. These left at the edges of the page will be needed for us when we will sew pieces of fabric on the inner walls of the clutch. * Maybe not a lot is not clear, but it will become clearer during the course of work *

5. Now apply with a brush a thin layer of matte glue along the edges of the pages in sections in the middle (which are to the right and left of the clutch opening and between the extreme sheets of waxed paper). We do this both from the outside of the pages and from the inside (around the hole, near the spine of the book). We leave the book under the press (for example, from heavy books) so that the pages stick together tightly and dry out. After this, the pages on the cover of the book (10 pieces on each side, which we separated with waxed paper from the central parts) should remain un glued. And the two glued sections should be separated from each other. In general, the result should look like this:

  5. Using a needle, we puncture non-glued pages along the edges. These are the places to which we will sew the walls of fabric.

  6. Now about the fabric walls inside the clutch. We open the book as wide as we want to open our clutch. We circle the resulting shape and add centimeters on both sides of the seam allowances. The allowance at the bottom should be a quarter of an inch longer than the width of the hole inside the book. (* I personally don’t really understand what the author wanted to say in the last sentence, but I think in the process of creating a real clutch it will become clearer, and I can explain it in my own words more readily)

  7. Now you need to mirror the resulting shape as shown below. The author says that he trains first on paper napkins to make sure everything fits the size. Then he uses the same napkin as a stencil on which he cuts the fabric.

  8. Cut out two such pieces of fabric for lining and fold each of them in half, as in the photo below.

  9. Now you need to stitch these pieces as shown in the photo below.
  Important! Sew inside out!

  10. We turn on the front side. Iron the folded cloth in order to get a crease with an iron. The photo below will explain more clearly)

  11. Insert our fabric pieces into a book. The narrow part should be closer to the spine. Ironed folds of fabric should look into the book. Sew the fabric to the pages where holes have already been made.

  12. After the clutch walls are sewn, we must glue the remaining non-glued pages to the already glued ones. After that, glue them to the cover. We do everything carefully, you can use waxed paper so as not to glue something wrong (for example, the middle).

13. Finally, glue the clasp. To lift the clasp over the cover, the author used pieces of wood / plywood. (* Can a thick cardboard also work?) He glued them with epoxy glue to the pages, and then glued the clasp to them. Also, the author advises to be very careful and recommends using waxed paper again so as not to glue the clutch forever).
(* It is possible to make the fastener in another way. For example, sew a fabric strap and make a fastener on a magnet. But you need to be confused with this at the very beginning, before gluing the fabric to the cover of the book)

That's it! The clutch is ready) Do not forget the phone, keys, library card and you can go to the library for a good book)

The fact that the clutch is one of the hottest trends of the spring-summer 2012 season, I think, no one doubts. Clutches are in all design collections of this season. They are very different: from the smallest, to maxi clutches, from bright red to pastel, from leather to textile. Some clutches are simple and concise. Others delight with a variety of decor: flowers, metal rivets, embroidery.

Trendy bloggers complement their trendy look’s with different clutches and we all also want to be trendy and have different clutches for different occasions. That is why today I bring to your attention several video lessons on how do-it-yourself clutch. You can decorate it or paint it in different colors, everything is at your discretion. I hope that in these lessons you will find useful ideas. Let's move on to viewing.

How to make a fashionable do-it-yourself clutch

This video shows how to create a beautiful evening clutch and decorate it with a leather flower.

A miniature clutch with a decor of metal elements.

We simply and quickly sew a stylish leather clutch.

It is advisable to take the skin soft, but dense, so that it can hold its shape and does not stretch much. Since the clutch is without a lining, the reverse side of the skin is also important, even if it will be beautiful ;-)

For a clack of this size, one middle skin is enough (approximately 50-60 sq. dm). Of course, it may turn out that there will be many or few skins, it all depends on the skin - on how many defects there are on it.

  • genuine cattle leather, about 1.5-2 mm thick, - for decor (valves, handle, handle fastening, lock tail). You can use MPC, but in 2 layers.

  • 2 zippers,   from 30 cm long, it is better to take detachable ones.

  • short handlemade of leather (you can also take the finished one).

  • long handle- at will, I have a 120cm chain, I assembled it myself (fastened carabiners and connecting rings), but you can buy a finished one.

  • holnitene   for decor and fastening of the handle.

  • punch and press or other device for installing holniten,

  • 2 half rings   (1-2cm) for mounting handles.

1. We are building a pattern.

2. Cut out the details of the skin.

If the skin with creases and bruises - you can iron it from the inside out with an iron, in medium mode, be sure to through thin tissue. It is preferable to try on a piece with the edge of the skin, so that it is clear how the skin will react to the heat of the iron.

4   the details A   (24 cm by 15 cm) - for external pockets,

2 the details B(24 cm by 12 cm) - for an inside pocket on a lock.

IMPORTANT.   The pattern under the letter B is auxiliary, we will need it in the sewing process, we do not cut such a detail.

We place the pattern details on the skin so that the skin stretches more in width than in the length of the product. The main load goes to the vertical, p. along vertical lines, ideally, there should be no stretching.

The following details have turned out:

2 parts will be external, 2 - internal.

External   call the details   A1   (2 pcs.).

Domestic - A2(2 pcs.).

I found a patch pocket with a flap on one outer part, and left the second part as is. You can do nothing, then the clutch will be the same on both sides.

For internal parts (A2) we process the upper edge.

Just turn it 1cm, glue it, tap the hem with a hammer. And flashing at a distance from the edge of 0.7-0.8 mm.
We tap again on the front side.

We get 2 such details:

As a result, we get these 4 details A:

4. Shorten the zipper.

We have two zippers - it is better to take detachable ones. Length - not less than 30 cm.

We leave the zipper for the external fastener as it is.

Shorten the zipper for the inside pocket to 21 cm.

To do this, we just cut it to 20.8 cm. We melt the cut edge and make a leather frame on it.

The result is a lock with a frame on one side, 21 cm long.

I flashed the frame with my hands (after gluing it with glue):

Lightning is ready for him. Therefore, we sew in the lock.

The width of our parts is 24cm, the length of the zipper is 21cm.

It turns out that there are 1.5 cm allowances on each side.

We sew the zipper in the usual way: we connect the front sides of the part and the zippers, we sew a line at a distance from the edge of 0.7 mm (normal foot width).

We turn the free edges of the lightning (at the very beginning).

We turn it off, tap it with a hammer, glue it from the wrong side, tap it again with a hammer (mallet), make a stitching, grabbing the bend from the wrong side.

The free ends of the zipper (which we tucked) are cut and fused.

It turns out a blank for the inside pocket.

Folded side view:

6. Sew in the external lock.

We take 2 external parts A1 and connect them with a zipper. In this way:

All the same - we connect one part and half of the lock with the front sides inward, we make a line. The distance from the edge at the beginning of the castle is 1.5 cm, at the end - 2 cm.

The same thing is repeated with the second part and half of the castle, making sure that it turns out symmetrically and evenly. I put a lot of marks on the castle and the details to connect them in the right places))

We’ve sorted the locks.

Now we have such beauty:

Plus two internal parts A2.

Ideally, the internal parts and the external should match in height (on the internal, 1 cm went to the hem; on the external, about 1 cm went to the lock).

You can check by attaching them to each other.

If it didn’t coincide)) we simply cut it)) we cut off the excess so that the parts become again the same in height.

7. We sew an inside pocket.

Well now the most important secret of our complex design begins))

Before we start sewing the pocket itself, we will sew the inside details of A2 to it.

To do this, we will need an auxiliary pattern B (see photo with patterns).

We lay out the blank of the inner pocket with the wrong side up, we find the middle (12 cm) horizontally and put a mark. We apply the pattern in this way (combining the midpoints).

Pay attention to where the top of the pattern is located - on the seam of the castle.

Transfer the pattern to both halves of the workpiece.

Now we take one to do A2 and connect it to our workpiece (with the sides inward.)

We connect, fasten with clamps or clothespins.

We make a line on a typewriter strictly along the line.

IMPORTANT.   In the photo below, I once again marked where exactly the line begins and ends. We start the line just above the seam of the lock (0, 1 mm)

We sew. The lock can be unfastened for convenience.

Flashed, flipped, look)

We repeat everything also with the second internal detail A2.

We connect the front sides inward.

Firmware starting from the castle.

Result:

And now we can sew the pocket itself, despite the details sewn on the sides)

To do this, we carefully twist these parts, turn them up and place everything inside, turning the blank for the pocket to the wrong side.

Turn off:

Turn up and bend:

We put it on the floors (with the sides inward).

We fix with clamps. It turns out here is a bar.

Now we unfasten the lock (and then we will not turn it out).

And at a distance of 0.5 -0.7 mm from the edge we make a line.

If your machine does not take thick sections at the beginning and end of the line badly, you can then flash them with your hands - into the same holes).

We twist, straighten the skin. We begin to understand that everything is simple))))

We tap the seam. The inside pocket is ready.

8. We sew external, side pockets.

We take the blank from parts A1.

We unfasten the lock and work with only one half. I took the first empty half without a pocket.

We take a blank with an inner pocket and one of the parts A1.

We connect parts A1 and A 2 with the front side inward.

I understand that the pocket itself and the second part of A2 interfere with us.

We do the same as when sewing the inner pocket - we bend, fold, fold) and try not to notice the interfering parts)).

See, they are inside.

And we again have a bar)) which we are stitching at a distance of 0.5-0.7 cm from the edge.

IMPORTANT. The locks in the finished product should “look” in one direction, this must be taken into account immediately when sewing on the first part A1.

We twist, tap the seam.

Already beautiful) It remains to connect the last external part A1 with an almost finished clutch.

The scheme is the same)) We bend, collapse, fold the unnecessary parts, and the necessary ones - the free parts A2 and A2 - we connect the front sides inward.

Turn up:

We connect the parts A1 and A2.

Features of creating clutches of leather, felt, suede and fabric with your own hands.

Bags for women are not enough, like outfits. We love to keep the essentials on hand and combine handbags with a daily look.

Due to its small size and ease of use, the clutch has become an indispensable attribute for going to a restaurant, for a business meeting, for a date, for business.

Sewing it with your own hands will not be difficult. If you have never sat at a sewing machine, but have now made up your mind, prepare all the necessary materials and start the creative process.

Ideas and secrets for clutches from different materials will be discussed in more detail in the article.

DIY jeans clutch: a pattern with a description

For your jeans clutch, fit your old pants or large trimmings of denim.

Plan on the edges of the gap of 1-1.5 cm for seams.

  • Use thick material to shape and stiffen your future clutch. For example, non-woven, hard leatherette, dublin.
  • Pick up the brightly colored lining fabric and the bobbin thread to match it with which to process the front edges of the product.
  • Choose a magnetic button with a diameter of 16 or 18 mm.
  • Decide on the way to wear the future clutch. For example, for a wrist it is convenient to sew a loop on one side, and for a shoulder - 2 ears. They will become fasteners for the chain.

See the video for a detailed description of the work for sewing a clutch from jeans.

Do-it-yourself clutch bag made of leather: pattern with description

The clutch envelope is uncomplicated in its own hand.

  • Leather or its substitute hold the shape of the product. This means that the seals can not be used for sewing the clutch envelope.
  • Another plus is the lack of any mounts. You should select all materials, draw a pattern, transfer it to the skin, cut and sew the edges.

We offer, as an example, a clutch envelope pattern and a sequential work scheme.

DIY women's leather clutch bag: pattern with description

Genuine leather requires special handling during the creation of products. If you decide to sew a clutch from it, then prepare a hammer to beat off bends and places with seams.

The difficulty level of sewing from genuine leather is medium.

You will need:

  • piece of genuine leather
  • lining material, e.g. cotton
  • thin foam sheet for laying
  • rubber glue
  • lightning
  • a pair of half rings
  • drawing tools
  • scissors
  • threads
  • a hammer

The first stage of your work is drawing a pattern.

DIY clutch bag made of suede: pattern with description

Suede is pleasant to the touch and goes well with non-shiny wardrobe items.

A suede clutch is sewn fast enough if you have chosen a simple pattern. For example, one of the following.

To work on creating a do-it-yourself clutch, prepare:

  • suede fabric
  • lining fabric
  • foam, flizilin, collar double
  • scissors
  • threads, needles, sewing machine
  • magnetic button, decorated button, zipper to choose from
  • half rings for a belt
  • the chain

The list of materials varies for each specific model and your idea.

Procedure:

  • draw a pattern or use your favorite sample from free access. Consider seam allowances,
  • attach it to the base material and lining,
  • circle the contours on both fabrics with chalk
  • if you strengthen the future clutch with inserts of duplicin / foam rubber, designate its shape by a pattern 0.5 cm smaller around the perimeter,
  • fold the suede and lining face to face and sew in the valve area,
  • under the lining, put duplin / foam and connect them with a line on the machine around the perimeter, leaving 1 cm of the free edge of the lining,
  • fold the suede and lining together again and sew on the two long sides,
  • turn the future clutch through the free side,
  • mark and attach the magnetic lock on the valve,
  • fold the clutch bag and fix it on the sides with seams. If your model requires a belt / chain to be worn on the arm / shoulder, sew in suede eyelets,
  • put in it a thick magazine or a couple of packs of napkins for volume and mark the place for the second part of the magnetic lock,
  • fasten it
  • put the rings in the loops and belt / chain,
  • a suede clutch is ready.

Do-it-yourself women's fashion clutch bow: pattern with description

By fashion, we mean the beauty created by world-famous designers. For example, Valentino and his interesting female clutch with a large bow.

This model of a ladies' handbag is pretty in leather, in satin, and in suede.

We suggest you sew a similar leather clutch. His pattern looks like this:

The procedure is generally similar to the above models. From the nuances:

  • first of all, work on the formation, arrangement and sewing of bow details to one of the main parts of the clutch,
  • use not only a sewing machine, but also your hands with a needle. You won’t have free access to all places.
  • sew the lining carefully so that the bow remains without unnecessary lines and fasteners,
  • when you turn the clutch and sew it, carefully insert the zipper and work on its edge.

DIY clutch bag from an old bag: pattern with a description

Our old bags often lie on shelves in the closet and gather dust. There are many reasons for this:

  • scuffed
  • worn pens
  • obsolescence

Give them a second life by remaking them in clutches.

To do this, carefully loosen all the seams of the outer material of the old bag. Leave the lining unchanged; for the most part, it can be sewn into a new clutch.

Pick a pattern, for example, this:

  • Cut out the details of the future clutch from the parts of the bag without damage. If it doesn’t work, be prepared to decorate the finished work.
  • Decide on the size of the lining and cut the old one according to the pattern.
  • Stitch the details of the clutch on three sides, folding them face to face. Add loop straps for attaching the belt and zipper.
  • Turn the work and complete the connection with a seam on the fourth side.
  • Insert a magnetic button or a couple of buttons to choose from.
  • If your bag was made of leatherette, use a hammer to beat seams or a warm iron through a cloth. So the seams will fix and will look smoother. And also use glue to connect the parts of the clutch.

Do-it-yourself clutch from fabric: pattern with description

Fabric clutches are good in an ideal color combination for a specific outfit. Having decided on the model and having completed it, you will want to create a few more clutches in the same way from other fabrics.

We offer the following pattern:

Prepare materials for work:

  • main and lining fabrics
  • zipper
  • original slider
  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • pencil or chalk

The procedure is similar to the options discussed above. Note the features:

  • if there is a bow in the decor, make it first,
  • fix the finished bow in the middle on the front side of one detail of the future clutch,
  • sew the zipper into the front ones and then into the lining details,
  • mark the fillets of the product and sew them on the wrong side,
  • connect the lining and the front fabric on three sides from the inside, turn and sew the fourth,
  • add a slider to the zipper.

DIY felt clutch: pattern with description

The felt clutch looks elegant and sophisticated thanks to the bright saturated tones of the material.

One of the interesting models is made of a solid canvas in the form of an offset eight, the edges of which are connected by a zipper. The difficulty in creating such a clutch model lies in the accuracy of sewing on the zipper.

We suggest you sew a clutch with a clasp according to the pattern in the figure below.

You will need:

  • felt of several colors, of which two are main, the rest are trimmings for decor
  • dubyrin and sintepon
  • clasp
  • scissors
  • needle and thread and / or sewing machine
  • tissue cleavage needles
  • beads, beads, clutch pendant

Operating procedure:

  • mark the pattern and cut 4 felt cloths of two colors according to the pattern. One pair will be face, and the second will be lined,
  • prepare 2 sintepon canvases according to the pattern, which are less by half a centimeter from the main parts of the clutch,
  • sew the details of each material and color from each other on three sides. Leave free the one where the clasp will be attached,
  • on the front side of the clutch, fasten the details for the decor, which are also made of felt of a different color. For example, a flower arrangement with beads,
  • carefully insert the synthetic winterizer part into the blank-lining, and the front part of the clutch into it. The latter should be the wrong side, then to turn the stitched material,
  • connect all 3 elements of the clutch with a seam and twist,
  • sew the clasp with your hands. On the front side, before each stitch, add a bead of beads,
  • hide the knots of the thread inside the clutch,
  • decorate the product and wear with pleasure.

DIY clutch bag: pattern with description

The clutch package is interesting for the presence of handles, spaciousness and lack of lightning.

If you are a beginner needlewoman, practice using simpler clutch models. Or be extremely careful when stitching and gluing every detail of a future bag.

The clutch bag pattern is quite simple.

Short job description:

  • cut the right amount of detail for a future clutch,
  • sew, glue, tap and iron them,
  • insert decor elements on the front side,
  • sew pockets and zippers on them,
  • connect all the parts in series.

do-it-yourself pattern for a clutch bag made of leatherette

  • Cut the blank from leatherette, as well as parts for fastening and belt as desired.
  • Pick up the material for the lining and sew it the desired shape according to the pattern. To prevent the material from puffing inside, cut it 0.5 cm less than the main parts.
  • The colors of the threads and zippers are chosen either similar to the leatherette color, or contrasting.
  • Connect the edges of the leatherette parts and the lining material to each other with pins and sew on the machine from 3 sides.
  • Sew a zipper between the free edges of the leatherette so that they are as close as possible to the teeth of the snake. Pick up the length of the zipper 5 cm longer than the side to which it will be attached.
  • Having retreated a few millimeters, connect the harnesses of the zipper to the edges of the lining.
  • Knock all seams with a hammer, laying a solid board / ruler.
  • Turn out the finished clutch and wear it with pleasure.

DIY round clutch bag: pattern with description

  • The round shape for the clutch looks original, but is not suitable for a solemn publication.
  • The pattern for him is as simple as possible, take a plate with a diameter of 25 cm, attach to the material and carefully cut with a knife. You need 2 pieces of such parts for the outer material and lining.
  • Remember to cut out rectangular parts for the belt.
  • Prepare a zipper with a length of 10-13 cm and a place for it on the side on the circumference of the main and lining details of the clutch.
  • Make an incision in the tissues and attach a zipper. Apply glue to its edges and attach to the main fabric.
  • Use machine stitching on the wrong side of the clutch and zipper base material.
  • Sew a lining to the free edge of the snake.
  • Connect the details of the lining and the main material between each other and a stitched belt nested inside between them. By the way, you can attach it to the zipper, and not sew on it.
  • Carefully turn the future clutch through the hole with the snake.
  • Add decor to your taste. For example, a brush with large beads or flowers made of leather / felt.

Visually, the procedure for creating a round clutch looks like this:

Do it yourself luxury clutch! Detailed workshop.

For several years now, a clutch bag has remained fashionable and relevant. It is always a pleasure to have a small clutch in hand. You can not go to an expensive boutique, and not spend money on such a handbag. Such a clutch can be easily made by yourself, and it will take only a few hours. Let's make such a clutch.

Clutch fabric is absolutely suitable for any, you do not need to chase the fabric to be dense, here it is also softer. Because in the process we will lay cardboard inside the clutch. To add volume, we add quilted padding polyester inside, I advise you to take a quilted pad, as it won’t pile up in the future. Well, we stock up on different types of material for decoration. These are beads, various beads, sequins, decorative cord, etc.

And so I repeat what we need.

1. Black fabric for the clutch itself, fabric for laying, fabric - quilted synthetic winterizer, dublin.
  2. Cardboard. The main thing to take is not very hard, and not very soft. I took a box from children's puzzles and used cardboard only from the box lid.
  3. Beads, sequins, beads, decorative cord
  4. Satin ribbons and organza ribbons.
  5. Magnetic rivet, so that the clutch is fastened.

Let's start sewing our clutch. To begin, we will make a pattern. Let's make a rectangle, divide it into three parts, the sizes you need. I have such dimensions as, for two parts, 17.5 cm, and for the details of the clutch cover 16 cm.

Then we transfer the pattern to the fabric, measure 2 cm into allowances.

Similarly, we have a synthetic winterizer and lining fabric. Dublin is also cut, only without allowances for seams.

We take our cardboard, and also transfer the pattern to the cardboard, only to do each clutch separately, because inserting cardboard inside the clutch, we will flash it together, as if we would have cardboard connected with a cloth.

Now we begin to create a rose from organza. Look at the photo. The first time it may not work. Dissolve, that's okay. Do it again. In the end, you will have wonderful roses.

Then you can proceed to the satin ribbon rosette. The photo shows how to make a rose from a wide ribbon, similarly roses are made from any ribbons. I almost never cut the ribbon in advance, I make the rose right out of the ribbon, maybe one of you will do it differently, but it seems to me that it’s more economical.

Here we have such wonderful roses. And now for the most interesting. We will create our story on the bag. I do it like this. To begin with, I spread on the fabric approximately what I want. And I can already see how it will look.

I gradually sew on all the jewelry, beads, sequins, cord, beads, etc.

That's what we got. Having sewed everything, we can already see how it will look.

Take dulirin and fix it on the fabric, but without touching our embroidery.

By combining the fabric with glued doubler, sintepon and cushioning fabric, we first sketch, and then we sew it on a typewriter. Turn it out. And iron.
