Skirt

How to make a circle skirt pattern correctly?
To sew a titmouse costume on New Year, preparing a pattern for ¼ of a paper product. We make calculations:
- We calculate the radius - this is the width of the skirt at the waist: FROM: (2 * 3.14) = 60: 6.28 = 9.55 cm.
- On our pattern, ½, which means we set aside 4.78 cm along the upper semicircle. Be sure to take into account that the skirt will be gathered at the waist, so we will deepen the waist line by 1-1.5 cm along the longitudinal thread.
- From the center of the waist line, set aside the length of the skirt - 30 cm down and on the sides. Plus 2 cm - seam allowances.
- Connect the dots and cut out. Well, the titmouse costume pattern is ready.
- Let's move on to working with fabric. We start with the blue satin overskirt. We fold the fabric twice diagonally, pin the pattern to it, outline it, adding 2 cm to the seams and cut it out. There is no need to sew such a skirt on the sides; the circumference is complete. You need to gather the fabric at the waist.
- We do the same with tulle, adding 7 cm in length. And we also gather it at the waist. We connect both parts of the skirt and sew them to the belt, for which we use a decorative blue elastic band.
- We sew blue bias tape along the edges of the overskirt. Tulle does not need finishing. So, the skirt is ready. Let's move on to sewing the vest.
Vest
To sew a titmouse costume for a girl with your own hands, we use blue and yellow satin for the vest. Along the edges ready product decorate with feather ribbon. For a girl 128 cm tall you will need:
- blue satin - 35 cm;
- yellow satin - 35 cm;
- satin bias tape for finishing;
- decorative feather braid;
- paper for patterns.
The vest consists of three parts: the back back is blue and two front panels are yellow. We cut out the model from paper, as shown in the figure below, and outline it on the fabric, taking into account a seam allowance of up to 2 cm.
Cut and sew along the sides. We process the edges. We use blue feather ribbon as decoration. As an option, you can add yellow and black - the color of the titmouse's feathers. We decorate the entire vest along the edge. The same feathers can be sewn onto the raglan sleeves, which are worn under the vest. The color you can choose is blue. Decorate the tit's breast with a black tie. You can take a ready-made one or make it from leftover felt that is used for a hat.
Headdress
When creating a titmouse costume for a girl with your own hands, you need to think about the headdress. There are many options. This could be a headband with flowers and feathers, a bandana or a hat of different models. The main thing is that the primary colors are present: blue, yellow and black. In our case, we are sewing a felt hat with a visor in the shape of a bird’s beak. This material holds its shape perfectly, does not require additional processing of cut edges, and does not fade. If desired, you can replace it with other materials. So, you will need:
- felt in blue, yellow and black;
- white.

We cut out all the details of the hat from paper, having previously made calculations. So, for parts 3 and 4, the length of the base is equal to the diameter of the head divided by 6. Then we lay out the patterns on the fabric, trace them, adding a little to the seams, cut them out and sew them together one by one. The beak is black, the rest of the details are blue and yellow, as shown in the picture. We cut out the eyes from white tape and glue them to the sides of the hat. The pupils can be drawn with a marker or cut out from leftover felt. Be sure to attach a clasp at the back. The attachment points are indicated on the pattern.

Completing the image
As the basis of the outfit we use raglan with long sleeves in blue to match the skirt. We decorate it with a feather ribbon along the entire length of the sleeve. We put on matching ballet shoes, blue or black, on our feet. They can also be decorated with feathers on top.

The second option is to sew wings from fabric and felt. To do this, you will need a piece of any blue fabric for the base and felt of different shades of blue. Let the child extend his arms to the sides, and you measure the distance between the wrists. This will be the width of the wings. Cut a semicircle from the fabric, the base of which is the same length as your measurement. The diameter of your semicircle can be made according to the child's measurements from shoulder to waist. Sew elastic bands or ribbons to the corners to tie the wings on the wrists.
Next, cut out many long oval pieces from felt - they will imitate feathers. Sew these feathers onto the base with an overlap. Sew the finished wings to the collar of the dress, tie them on your hands, and your titmouse can take off.
Another option is to sew a blue feather boa on a similar fabric base around the edge - it will look very much like a bird.
Mask for titmouse costume
Measure the circumference of the child's head, add 3-4 centimeters for overlapping gluing. Cut a strip of cardboard this length. Cut out two triangles from the same cardboard, glue them along the long edge to make the beak three-dimensional, and glue the base to the middle of the cardboard strip. Connect the strip into a circle. Cut out two eyes from cardboard and stick them on tape. Color the blank and you can put it on your head.
The second option is to make a mask out of felt. Cut out two blanks of glasses and a nose in the shape of a drop from felt. Glue the nose to the middle of the glasses, glue the second blank of glasses on top. Insert an elastic band around the edges. The edges of the mask can be stitched for reliability and decorated with feathers or bright pieces of felt in other colors.
