Mk topiary made from napkins. How to make topiary from napkins with your own hands: simple production and step-by-step master class for beginners. Master class on creating topiary from paper napkins

A master class on making topiary scares off many beginners due to the listing of materials such as sisal, foamiran, cold porcelain, etc. What to do with everything, and how to make a completely understandable tree from unusual materials? Is it a matter of topiary from paper napkins. A beginner can do it with his own hands, and there is a suitable master class for beginners, with photos and explanations of how and when to make this or that part.

What are napkins for? From them you need to make flowers that will decorate the crown of the tree. The trick is to fold the napkin correctly.

How to make a paper napkin flower:

  • Take a plain (but optional) napkin and cut it into strips. The stripe is equal to the height of the bud, so this indicator is determined by yourself.
  • You need to roll the paper strip with your own hands, forming a bud.
  • In the bud, the petals are slightly turned inside out, so you turn the layers of the napkin inside the flower a little inside out.

You can fasten the bud so that it does not unfold with glue, thread, or a sewing pin. You need to make a lot of flowers so that they cover the crown tightly.

There is another option. This MK may seem simpler to some.

Option two - how to make flowers from napkins:

  • Take a stack of 70 napkins (or a little less or a little more);
  • Cut this stack into equal squares;
  • Each of the resulting squares needs to be folded a little less than half, and the corners should be twisted a little - you will get just the shape of a petal.
  • To make one flower, you need about ten pieces, this is on average. The more petal blanks you use, the more magnificent the flower will be.

Making roses for topiary (video master class)

DIY MK: topiary from napkins

If the roses are already ready, you can proceed to the next stage. For any topiary, from napkins or other decor, you will need a ball base. It’s great if you already have a foam blank, but you can build such a ball with your own hands. To do this, take newspapers, crumple them into one large dense lump, coat them with glue in some places to make the lump heavier. This ball needs to be wrapped in threads, it will look like a ball.

  • The base ball should be placed on the barrel. The trunk is usually any stick, even a real snag or branch. You place this design in a pot with alabaster poured into it.
  • The trunk and the ball on it (in fact, this is a tree) is placed in alabaster, so that it is firmly fixed in it.
  • Don't rush things, wait until everything dries. At this time, you can make roses or choose decor, without which the tree will not be elegant.
  • Well, now MK involves the creation of a crown. The ball must be covered with flowers from napkins; there should be no gaps between the buds. It would be great if you paint the ball with your own hands in the color of the buds, so that even a small gap is well disguised.
  • The trunk can be wrapped with twine, braid, satin ribbon, decorative cord or special paper. Sometimes lace stripes are also used.

The master class is not completed - you have to make the finishing decoration. How else can you decorate a tree? See examples of decor in the photo gallery. You need to start with a pot. The top layer should be decorative, the alabaster should be covered.

You can decorate the top layer:

  • Beautiful beads to match the crown buds;
  • Coffee beans;
  • Colored tea leaves;
  • Sequins;
  • Beads;
  • Rhinestones;
  • Colored small buttons;
  • Decorative stones;
  • Berries.

There are master classes in which topiary from beautiful napkins decorated using decoupage technique. The same pot can be decorated with a top layer of napkins with an interesting pattern. This is a very delicate work, you will need to watch an additional master class.

Topiary heart made of napkins

Such a tree has only one fundamental difference - you will have to paste over the crown of the heart, not the ball. That is, the same flowers are used, only the shape of the crown changes.

How to make a heart with your own hands if you don’t have a blank? There are also several options.

Romantic topiary made from napkins (video)

First MK: flat heart

It’s simple to make; it will be a through heart made of cardboard.

  • You take thick cardboard, you can - from big boxes. Cut out the shape of a heart, which should be hollow inside. That is, the diameter of this heart-shaped rim will be approximately 2-3 cm.
  • To make it even denser, it can be covered with the same napkins in several layers.
  • And then paint the heart in the desired color and paste it over with the same colors.

There are master classes that do not offer dense covering of the base with flowers. That is, you can, for example, wrap the uniform with lace or bleached twine, and only attach flowers in some places.

And such a tree will be interesting and original, and as a souvenir gift for a loved one - almost an ideal option.

Heart tree: do-it-yourself second option

You can make the heart differently if it does not have to be end-to-end.

MK - heart for topiary made from napkins:

  • Take any object that has the shape of a heart, for example, a mirror or powder compact;
  • Now remember about such a technique as papier-mâché: you need to cover this object in many layers with paper or napkins so that it does not turn out flat;
  • After it has dried, cut the entire structure in half - this must be done carefully;
  • You take out the object, and connect the structure itself with several more layers.

Here is such a simple MK. Otherwise, you need to make a “heart” topiary in the same way as a traditional one.

Napkin ball

Step-by-step master class. Topiary made from paper napkins

The size of flowers for topiary depends on the size of the napkins. Fold the napkin several times to form a square. Secure it in the center with a stapler and then cut out a circle.

You can also cut out a circle with irregularities so that the flower turns out to have chaotic petals. You can make light cuts around the circle and the flower will turn out fluffy.

Now start lifting each circle and you will start to get a flower. Make a lot of these blanks so that there is enough for a whole tree. Don’t forget about the leaves, which can also be made from napkins, but green.

Separately prepare a ball for the topiary. You can make it using the papier-mâché technique, from threads, or use a ready-made foam ball. On ours you can find detailed master classes with a photo on how to make balls with your own hands.

Topiary can be made in a pot. To do this, the ball is glued to a wooden stick-trunk and inserted into a pot with earth or plaster. It is much easier to make topiary without a trunk. You can show your imagination and make a special ribbon from which you can hang the ball.

Flowers are glued to the ball using a glue gun. Separately, you can glue beads or beads onto the flowers. Decorate the topiary to your taste and it will become an exclusive decoration of your interior.

Topiary made from napkins Even schoolchildren can do it. It will be a beautiful craft an original gift for family and friends, and will remind you of the donor for a long time. Small topiaries will decorate a windowsill or display window. Using a similar principle, you can make balloons that will look creative at a festive event.

Step-by-step master class with photos - topiary with roses and sisal

Stage I. Making the ball and preparing the barrel

We use a ready-made foam ball or make the base with our own hands: from old newspapers, scraps, cotton wool or padding polyester. All methods. For our tree, we chose a homemade version - made from padding polyester. We select the required diameter and wrap the ball with twine or knitting threads.

To make the ball elastic, we first make a core from padding polyester (or a similar material) wrapped with thread.

A curved branch of corilus or another tree is perfect as a trunk. Grinding sandpaper until the surface is smooth, paint in 2 layers with white acrylic or gouache with PVA glue. The paint dries in up to 30 minutes. After drying, insert the barrel into a previously prepared hole in the ball and fix it with glue.

Stage II. Making flowers from napkins

You will need viscose napkins of a standard size of 32x38 cm. Fold the napkin in four, cut into strips (the wider the strip, the higher the flower will turn out). We cut out the marigolds - petals, according to a pre-drawn contour or “by eye”. The core is a twisted strip of napkin or a bead. We glue the petals together, fixing them only at the base. The process of making roses from napkins is clearly shown in the video.

For a dense rose you will need 25-30 petals, for the entire “Heavenly Harmony” topiary - 30 roses. In total we cut about 900 petals.

Stage II-I. Sisal balls

You can use any colors of key elements, it is only important to maintain harmony: the napkins should be the same color as the pot. For example, topiary made from napkins yellow color It also looks very stylish and bright.

Stage III. Decorating the crown

In a chaotic order, we glue sisal balls, flowers from napkins, artificial roses and smooth berries all over the ball. We arrange the elements closely, without gaps, but at the same time so that the roses and balls do not crumple.

Lemon fabric roses were used for the blue napkin topiary. By color scheme White or dark blue flowers will also work.

Stage IV. Decor, pouring and filling the pot

Before filling the topiary with plaster, glue the lace onto the pot along the edge. Also be sure to carefully seal the drainage hole if using a flower pot.

Mix the solution directly in the pot: 2 parts gypsum, 1 part water. Slowly adding water, knead the mixture until the consistency of thick sour cream and so that it turns out to be a little more than half the pot. We lower several pieces of foam plastic or sponge into the solution so that when the plaster expands it does not split the pot. We plant the topiary in the correct position for the composition.

The drying speed of the pour greatly depends on the quality of the gypsum. If possible, it is better to leave for 24 hours. By the way, the whiter the plaster, the better the quality. All the secrets of filling - .

We glue a layer of synthetic padding onto the dried plaster to lighten the topiary. The crown is quite light and pouring under the edges of the pot is pointless; it will only increase the weight of the tree of happiness. We tightly glue sisal balls and smooth berries onto the padding polyester.

To decorate the pot we make a bow from satin ribbons, glue a rose from napkins and 2 fabric roses.

The final touch is a double bow made of organza and satin ribbon, tied to the trunk of a topiary made from “Heavenly Harmony” napkins.

Creating details for trees of happiness will contribute to the development fine motor skills kids, fantasy, imagination and out-of-the-box creative thinking.

Trees of happiness, also called topiaries, are created by needlewomen from a variety of materials: napkins, paper, satin ribbons. For decoration, beads, beads, rhinestones, lace, artificial or real moss are used, in general, everything that your imagination suggests.

A little history

The art of topiary is quite ancient. Its beginnings were the famous Hanging Gardens of Babylon and beautifully trimmed bushes and trees in the gardens of Ancient Rome. Then from Italy this direction of landscape design moved to Europe. The Renaissance era was the beginning of its heyday. The most delightful pearls are presented in Versailles and Peterhof.

Modern incarnation geometrically correct forms displayed in miniature topiaries from a variety of available materials, and in this article we suggest making you trees of happiness from napkins with your own hands.

Tree of happiness made from napkins

For those who are just starting to try themselves as a topiary creator, you should know a few basic points.

The first is the container where you will “plant” the tree of happiness. Of course, ordinary flower pots can serve in this capacity. They come in a wide variety of shapes, colors and sizes, so there is always an option that matches your idea.

If there is no suitable pot, you can use improvised containers, for example an old and unnecessary sugar bowl or milk jug. Various cups left over from a broken set will also work. Even plastic cups can be used. The difference between all these containers and pots is that they need to be additionally decorated - painted or, for example, wrapped in a napkin.

The next important point will be the material that secures the topiary in the pot. The most popular are polystyrene foam, floral sponge, alabaster and polyurethane foam. It is important to remember that alabaster heats up and expands when hardening and can damage the container. Polyurethane foam, when hardened, also greatly increases in volume, so these two materials should be used carefully.

In the creation of topiary, an important role is played by the base, to which flowers made from napkins or other material are attached. You can use ready-made polystyrene or penoplex balls as this. They are sold in some craft stores. Another option for creating a base could be a newspaper rolled into a ball or a piece of foam, which is cut with a knife to the desired shape.

Regarding trunks for trees of happiness, we can safely say that there are no restrictions. These could be real twigs plastic straws or wire, in general, whatever your imagination suggests. In the same way, a flight of fancy will help you choose decorative elements. The most various materials: ribbons, lace, beads, seed beads, threads, sisal, napkins, floral ribbons.

In this article we offer several options for a tree of happiness made from napkins with step-by-step detailed photos and descriptions.

Option 1

Topiary with roses from napkins

You will need:

  • Napkins of different colors;
  • Threads;
  • Scissors;
  • PVA glue;
  • Glue gun and hot glue;
  • Toilet paper or kitchen towel;
  • Woody twigs (for example, poplar);
  • Container (a flower pot will do);
  • Alabaster;
  • Green sisal;
  • Branch with artificial small flowers;
  • Decorative elements (ribbons, laces, beads, bird, ladybug, butterfly, large round napkin).

First, let's make roses. It will be necessary to cut off the folded edges from 50-60 pieces of napkins. It turns out 200-240 squares.

Now fold each piece in half and twist the fold in the middle. To make this easy and simple, you just need to moisten your fingers a little. We also twist the upper right and left corners, as in the photo.

Thus, you need to make 6-7 petals and one with even corners for the core of the rose.

This rectangular petal must be rolled up. We bend the outer corner diagonally. We pinch it with our fingers and begin to wrap the remaining petals around the core. We bend the outer edge of each petal in the same way as the core. We open the last couple of things more so that the rose seems open. We tighten the tail of the rose with thread and carefully trim it. When we have the required number of roses, we begin creating buds.

For one bud you will need to take ¼ of a napkin. We don’t make a fold, but simply roll it up, just like the petals on one edge.

For the leaves we will use green napkins. Cut and twist as shown in the photo. For one topiary you will need approximately 23-26 leaves.

Cut some of the green napkins into quarters. These are future sepals. We cut one edge into a “fence” and twist it around the buds. Secure with glue. Apply a little glue to the end of such a blank and put it into a piece of paper, as shown in the photo. Connect and twist. We connect buds with and without leaves in a checkerboard pattern, using another leaf as a connecting link. It should look something like the photo.

To create sepals, open roses will need napkins of two, darker and lighter green shades. We fold the napkins into a stack of several pieces, bend them twice and cut out the sepals, as in the photo. Be sure to make a hole in the center. For each flower you will need a pair of such blanks. We twist the edges a little, just like the petals.

The spherical base of topiary can be prepared in several ways.

The first is to shape a ball of newspaper or other soft paper and wrap it with thread. The second is to use the papier-mâché technique. Take as raw material toilet paper or kitchen paper towels.

The stem in this master class is made from several thin branches that are wrapped around a thick one. We attach the spherical base to the trunk using hot glue.

Mix alabaster with water, the consistency should be like thick sour cream. We insert the topiary into the pot, fill it with alabaster and fix it until the mixture hardens.

We connect a pair of sepals with a flower and glue it to the base, starting from the bottom and going up. Alternate roses of different shades. To hide gaps between flowers, glue single buds into the gaps.

To give the composition a complete effect, you can insert several small artificial flowers between the flowers.

To decorate the pot we use a large round napkin. We wrap the pot in it, bend the edges inward and glue it. We tie it with decorative cord and make beautiful bow. It can be fixed with glue.

Alabaster in a pot can be disguised with pieces of napkins and sisal. If you wish, you can add various beads and stones.

We decorate thin branches with buds and leaves. You can attach a small bird or butterfly to the crown, and the magical talisman that brings happiness is ready.

Option 2

For the next tree of happiness you will need three-layer napkins. Thanks to this, the flowers will turn out more lush; if you only have ordinary table napkins, then just take more of them.

You will need:

  • Napkins;
  • Newspaper;
  • Stapler;
  • Scissors;
  • Curly scissors;
  • Hot glue;
  • Threads;
  • Container for topiary (a flower pot will do);
  • Decorative elements (ribbons, beads, lace, whatever comes to mind).

Making the base

The newspaper must be crumpled into a spherical shape. For additional fixation, we wrap the workpiece with strong threads. Glue the threads so that they do not unravel. To ensure that the gaps between the flowers are not visible in the future, cover the base with a napkin of the same color as the flower blanks. Using a glue gun and hot glue, fix the barrel. This step can be done after all the flowers have been attached, but then there is a risk of crushing them during the process of attaching the trunk.

Making flowers

If you have three-layer napkins, separate the layers and fold them again. Cut the napkin along the fold lines, and then these quarters into 4 more pieces. This is a blank for one flower.

We fasten this blank in the center with a stapler. For greater reliability, you can fasten them with two staples crosswise.

Now we cut out a circle from the blank. If you have curly scissors, then use them. Then the edges of the flower will turn out wavy, and will make it visually more magnificent.

When the circle is cut out, you need to lift it up with your fingers and slightly crumple the layers of the napkin, as shown in the photo.

We make a lot of flowers.

Our base and stem are already ready, and we can start gluing the flowers. Fasten them tightly so that there are no gaps. If you want to break up the monochrome of the napkin tree, you can glue pieces of green napkin in several places as leaves. Various beads or any other decorative elements are welcome.

The barrel can be wrapped with tape. Don't forget to secure the ends with glue.

Now we need to “plant” our topiary in the selected container (it can be an old and unnecessary jar or an ordinary flower pot). If you wish, you can paint it or decorate it using the decoupage technique with napkins, in general, show your imagination.

Now mix the gypsum with water, insert our topiary into the pot and fill it with the mixture. The plaster hardens quickly, but the craft will need support for some time to prevent it from tilting. Do not fill to the top, because the plaster expands when it hardens and can ruin the pot.

To disguise the gypsum layer in a pot, you can paint it, glue half beads, a couple of flowers, and ribbons.

Option 3

Tree of happiness made from napkins using the cutting method

You will need:

  • Green and red napkins (any two contrasting and bright colors will do);
  • Newspaper;
  • Strong threads;
  • Stick for the trunk (this topiary is miniature, so we took a stick for sushi);
  • Capacity;
  • Sushi stick (another one);
  • Polyurethane foam;
  • Hot glue gun;
  • Decorative elements (for the container, a strip of wallpaper, beads, ribbons, green sisal).

Making the base

We form the newspaper ball similarly to the previous master class. We crumple it into the desired shape, then wrap it with thread to secure it.

We make a small hole in the workpiece, apply glue and attach the future trunk there.

When everything is dry, the future topiary must be “planted” in a pot. To do this, fill any container of a suitable format with polyurethane foam. Remember that when it hardens, it increases greatly in volume. When the foam has completely hardened, you need to carefully cut off the top layer to align it with the contour of the container.

The internal structure of the foam is porous, so making a hole for the barrel using scissors will be quite easy.

Glue the topiary into the container.

While the glue dries, we begin to create blanks from napkins.

It is better to take a large napkin. The green one needs to be drawn into squares with a side of 3 cm. Now you need to cut it into pieces along the marked lines.

The napkin in this master class is one-color, so we fold 2 squares so that both sides are colored. Now we take the second stick and the resulting double square, place the sharp end of the stick in its center and crumple the napkin around the stick with our fingers. The number of such blanks will depend on the size of the spherical base, but in any case you will need a lot of them.

We will make roses from red napkins.

The napkin must be cut into 4 pieces.

For each rose you will need 2. Roll each piece into a tube using a sushi stick. Now you need to crush it with an accordion.

From one such crumpled tube we make a core by simply rolling it into a tight ring. We wrap the second tube around the first. You need to tie a small ponytail with thread.

For a small tree, 4 - 5 flowers are enough.

First attach the roses to the base with hot glue. Glue evenly over the entire surface of the ball. And then we begin to fill the rest of the space with green blanks.

The last stage, as always, will be the design and decoration of the craft. We wrap a piece of wallpaper around our container. To disguise the polyurethane foam we put green sisal. Glue 3-4 beads onto each rose.

If desired, decorate with ribbons and attach an artificial ladybug, which with its shade will harmoniously fit into this topiary color scheme.

♦ HOW TO MAKE TOPIARY FROM NAPKINS. INSTRUCTIONS:

Materials for work : newspaper sheets, paper napkins, flower pot (or flowerpot), cement-sand mixture (CSM), threads, one thick willow branch (30 cm) and two thin ones (35-38 cm), glue gun, PVA, stapler, accessories for decoration.

Stages of work:

Pour the cement-sand mixture (2/3 of the volume) into the pot and dilute it with a small amount of water, mix everything thoroughly. Remove any remaining mixture from the edges of the pot;

Before the CPS has hardened, we stick all three willow branches into the mixture, tightly adjacent to each other. When the mixture has hardened, coat the surface with a glue gun and decorate with pebbles, shells or dry with moss;

Now we twist two thin willow branches around the thick one in a spiral and secure it with tape on top. The result is the trunk of our tree of happiness;

Now let's start forming the crown of the tree. To do this, crumple a sheet of newspaper, straighten it and coat it with PVA glue. Wrap the newspaper tightly around the top of the topiary's trunk. In the same way, we wrap several more layers of newspaper over the first and form a crown in the shape of a ball. Wrap the ball with strong thread. The ball should not exceed the size of the pot;

Then you need to make flowers from a napkin that will decorate the crown of the topiary. You can use the most in a simple way color making. We take several napkins, fold them in half, then fold them again and secure the folded napkins with a stapler in the center. We take scissors and carefully cut out a circle from this multi-layered square. Now we lift the top layer and twist it in a vertical position. We also lift the remaining layers one by one and give them a wave-like shape. The result was a lush flower;

You need to fold 30-40 of these flowers from a napkin, coat a ball of newspaper with glue and carefully glue the flowers to the crown so that they fit tightly to each other;

So we made our own topiary from napkins! All that remains is to beautifully decorate the pot and the trunk of the tree with accessories and ribbons at your discretion.
