Children's sailor suit, how to sew a sailor suit for a boy with your own hands, how to sew a cap and a collar with your own hands.

In the field of education, you simply cannot do without costumes for pilots, soldiers and sailors. Very often, kindergartens and schools host costume parties in honor of February 23, May 9, and the New Year. And dance groups with diverse choreographic performances cannot imagine their activities without the use of military costumes. In the case when your son got the role of a mischievous sailor at the matinee, or he himself chose such a costume for the holiday, you will have to be puzzled. And if there are no problems with the shirt and trousers, then where to find the suitable attributes. Some comb all the stores in search of a collar and cap of the right size, while others call relatives and friends in the hope of finding the right suit. Our article suggests you do things differently. Try to sew the attributes of a naval uniform with your own hands, because such work is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. Sailor suit The basis of the suit is a shirt white and trousers. For sailor pants, you can use any black or white straight-cut pants. And to give them an even more nautical look, iron the creases and find a wide black belt with a metal buckle. As for the shirt, there are quite a lot of options. You can sew it using an ordinary shirt as a basis. Simply remove the button line, creating a solid front front and V-neck. You can just take a regular white T-shirt and sew sleeves on it. Sew cuffs of blue fabric to them, the width of which will be equal to half the child’s hand. Complete the shirt with a blue or of blue color, framed by three white stripes of satin fabric or ribbons. How to sew a collar for a sailor's suit with your own hands When creating a pattern, it is quite difficult to name any specific numbers. Here you need to proceed exclusively from the individual measurements of the child. Guys - that’s what the collar is called, should lie flat on your baby’s shoulders, slightly covering the back. It shouldn't hang down like a cape. Choose a suitable blue or blue fabric for the collar. It is not necessary to take cotton fabric, you can choose denim, etc. Make two identical parts as illustrated in the photo.
Connect them face inward and sew along the contour, leaving unstitched bottom part. To ensure that the fabric of the finished collar does not pull, be sure to make notches in the rounded areas.
Turn the collar right side out, iron it thoroughly, carefully sweep away the free part, tucking the edges inward. Iron the bottom. Now you should start decorating the guy. Traditionally, it is decorated with three white ribbons sewn along the outer edge. We don't have to strictly follow the rules, so we can get by with just one tape. Prepare the white satin ribbon the desired length and start decorating.
Baste it first along the entire outer perimeter, and then stitch it on a sewing machine. As you understand, at the same time as the ribbon, the lower part of the collar is also sewn together. Takes a sailor with his own hands The simplest version of a beret for a sailor can be sewn even by a person who has never seriously dealt with sewing. It's quite simple, you don't even need to use a pattern. Just follow the instructions below and you'll be fine. First you need to cut out two circles and two rectangles from white fabric. Choose the diameter of the base circles yourself, based on the circumference of your son’s head. The total length of the two rectangles will be equal to the circumference plus seam allowances. The height of the rectangles will correspond to twice the height of the headdress, in this case it is 16 cm. If your fabric allows you to cut one long rectangle, then make it one piece so as not to do unnecessary work.
Now you need to finish the edges. If you have an overlocker, that’s very good, but if you don’t have one, use the zigzag stitch of your machine, or you can overcast the edges by hand. Sew the two rectangles together on both sides. Leave about one cm unstitched on one side, slightly short of the middle - through this hole we will insert an elastic band. When the work is done, carefully iron all the seams. Next, you should lay a seam at a height of about 1.5 - 2 cm. It can be made decorative.
Baste the inner side of the beret with a round base. Turn it inside out and hide the seam between the two sides.
Carefully bend the edges of the outer edge inwards, you can see an example in the photo. Baste all layers again, then stitch them using a sewing machine. Remove the basting threads.
Insert an elastic band into the hole that was left unstitched, tighten it to the size you require, and sew its edges. Sew the elastic hole closed with a blind stitch.
The beret for your sailor is ready. All you have to do is make a blue pompom for him. Everything is simple here, and many people know how to do it. Cut out two circles from cardboard, make two more small circles inside and cut each piece on the side. Place them together, then wrap them well with blue yarn. If you want a fuller pompom, wrap it with thread as tightly as possible. As a result, you need to cut the yarn with nail scissors in the middle between two pieces of cardboard, stretch them a little, insert a thread between them and tie the yarn tightly. That's it, the pompom is ready.
Carefully trim all the loose threads so that the pompom has a beautiful and even shape, sew it to the beret and the hat for your favorite sailor is ready.
A cap for your favorite sailor In order to make a cap pattern, you first need to measure the circumference of your baby's head. Lay the resulting figure horizontally on a sheet of paper, and 6-7 cm vertically is enough. To begin with, all the parts will be cut out from dublerin. The resulting rectangle will become the band of the cap. Now you need to cut out the crown of the hat; it will be the same diameter as the previous part. In accordance with the second piece, cut out the third piece, which will correspond to the top part. As a result, you should have three parts for the hat in front of you, you can see an example in the photo. Now the band part, made of dublerin, needs to be glued to blue fabric; use an iron for these purposes. In the same way, glue the remaining two parts to the white fabric. After this, cut out all three parts, leaving allowances of 1-1.5 cm. Bend the band part in half and iron it thoroughly with an iron. The denser the part, the better, although it will be quite difficult to sew it together. Baste the crown and top of the hat together along the edge and sew with a sewing machine along outer circle. To ensure that the headdress holds its shape as best as possible, give the edges a zigzag shape around the circle. Turn the piece inside out and iron it. Next you need to sweep away the part of the band with the crown. After making sure that all the parts match in size and that there are no extra folds anywhere, stitch the parts to each other. Don't forget about the special attribute of such a hat - these are, of course, two ribbons, they need to be sewn to the back of the band. First, pin the ribbons to the product with pins and stitch them around the perimeter. As a result, if you wish, you can sew an anchor to the cap. Now the sailor's headdress is ready. DIY sailor carnival costume Sailor costumes are available for both boys and girls. Find a white blouse without any additional colored elements; if you wish, you can paint blue stripes on it. And the sailor's blouse is ready. Sew the collar. Mark the length of the collar vertically, and on the back add a parameter for the height of the neck bend. You should end up with a kind of square. Determine the length of the straps, setting them aside from the extreme shoulder width designation vertical line(30 cm is enough). Now draw two segments from the points corresponding to the width of the strap to the point corresponding to its length. You should get something like in the diagram.
Next, draw the pattern onto the fabric folded inwards and cut out the details. Decorate the part that will correspond to the front side with white ribbons, sewing them around the perimeter. Next, sew the two pieces facing inward, leaving the bottom unstitched. Through it you need to turn the collar right side out and smooth the part thoroughly. Now sweep the bottom of the product, bending the cuts inward. Sew the bottom using a sewing machine. The collar for the sailor girl is ready. As for the bottom of a suit for a girl, shorts or panties just need to be replaced with a blue skirt. A half-sun skirt is a good choice for a sailor's costume. Straight-cut or pleated skirts also go well with military suits. A straight skirt works best with a tunic, while a pleated skirt works best with T-shirts. To cut a straight skirt, you need to take two measurements: the length of the product, as well as the waist circumference. Calculate the width of the product by multiplying the waist measurement by 1.33. Suppose if the waist circumference is 53 cm, then multiplying it by 1.33, we get the value 70.49. Round the value to the nearest whole and measure 71 cm on the fabric. You need to make two rectangles. The first of which will correspond to the length of the skirt and the width of the product (in our example, this is 71 cm). The second rectangle will be needed to make a belt. The length will be equal to the waist circumference (in our case, it is 53 cm), the width will be 15 cm. Connect each of the rectangles separately into a circle. Fold the belt in half so that the loose ends are on top. Prepare a thick elastic band, the width of which will be approximately 1.5-2 cm, measure it along the waist circumference and also connect it into a circle. The elastic band needs to be inserted into the belt and its edges connected using sewing machine. Now mark 8 points each on the waistband and the top of the skirt. To do this, fold each piece in half four times, pinning the bends with pins. Next, we will attach the belt to the skirt from one pin to another, stretching the belt to the mark on the skirt. Fold the bottom of the product and sew it with a machine seam. Skirt with pleats for a sailor A similar model should be sewn as follows: measure the length of the product on the fabric, taking into account seam allowances; the width is calculated from the waist circumference, as well as the size of the pleats. You can make the folds the same or move them towards each other, pinning them with needles. As a result, the top of the product should correspond to the girl’s waist circumference plus 2 cm for allowances. Sew the top of the skirt, ironing the folds, machine the bottom of the product, tucking the edges, and sew on the waistband. The first and second versions of the skirt can be made without a stitched belt, simply by sewing in an elastic band. Please note that if you do not have much experience in sewing, after each completed action, apply the product to the child so that everything turns out correctly. Experience and skills come with time and practice. As you can see for yourself, making a sailor carnival costume is not so difficult. Most often, things from Everyday life. These could be pants, shirts, belts, etc. Therefore, before you sound the alarm, take a good look at the wardrobe of all your loved ones; you will definitely find those items of clothing that can be altered for your baby. The second important condition is the availability of free time. This is not surprising, because it is very difficult for working mothers to find free time for these purposes. If, on top of everything else, you need to purchase missing materials and decorative elements, then there may be no time left at all. Therefore, think in advance and plan your free time to create carnival costume, in order to gradually cope with it, and not sit at night. If still not found suitable clothing, then you need to sew it yourself. Don't try to find a pattern for the suit you want. Just find a suitable regular clothing pattern that will match the suit. In the case of a sailor, this could be a shirt or trousers. There are a lot of variations in making a sailor or sailor costume, but so that your child can feel confident, comfortable and relaxed, choose the model that he will be comfortable in and that he will really like.

You can sew a carnival sailor costume with your own hands, for both girls and boys. To create a children's sailor costume, you do not need a very detailed pattern, because in such an outfit there are no details that require special precision and care when creating them. Enough to use simple instructions and ideas that can be easily implemented at home.

Boy's sailor suit

One of the most important details of this outfit for a boy is the headdress. To create it you will need blue and white hard cardboard and white fabric.

From a piece of hard blue cardboard, cut out a strip that will serve as the base. Its width should be about seven centimeters, and the length should be determined by measuring the circumference of the boy’s head, and retreat another couple of centimeters to leave room for gluing.

Glue the strip together to make a circle. We bend a centimeter of its upper edge inward.

From white cardboard we cut out an even circle, the diameter of which will be wider than the glued blue strip. You need to make sure that the edges of the circle deviate from the edges of the strip by about four centimeters.

We place a white cardboard circle on the fabric and outline it, retreating six centimeters from the edges. Glue the edges of the fabric to the inside of the cardboard circle, without tightening it. Next, glue the blue strip with the white top.

A mandatory attribute of this suit is a collar. We cut out a square of forty by forty centimeters from blue fabric. Visually measure half the square. We retreat five centimeters from its lower edges and cut out a semicircle to its top.

It is not necessary to sew trousers, just find any black straight children's pants and a belt with a visible buckle. But, if you are fluent in sewing techniques and are eager to sew them yourself, take satin fabric in black or dark blue and give preference to the flared style.

For the blouse you will need a white one satin fabric. Sewing it is simple - cut out two wide pieces and connect them using a sewing machine, leaving gaps for the arms, head and body. A prerequisite is that the top neckline must be wide so that the blouse can be simply pulled over the head.

Simplified version for a boy

It's easy to sew a woven headdress with your own hands. To do this you will need a blue wide elastic band and white fabric. We connect the ends of the blue elastic band and tie them. Cut out a circle from white fabric and sew it to the inside of the elastic.

It is not necessary to sew a children's shirt; you can take a vest and wear it under a white shirt that is not fastened with all the buttons. If you can’t find a vest, take a regular white sleeveless T-shirt and paint blue stripes on it with acrylic paint.

The collar can be cut in the same way as in the instructions for the first costume, but the stripes can be painted on with any white paint rather than sewn on.

Boy's trousers are regular black. Even the classic version is suitable.

Carnival costume of a sailor

You need to try to find a white blouse without any unnecessary details. We draw wide transverse blue stripes on it, and the blouse for the sailor is ready.

The style of the skirt can be any, except for a tutu or a very long model. Successful options- straight, flared or “sun”. Sew it yourself, find it or purchase it - your choice.

Once upon a time, sailors wore heavily pomaded and powdered hair with a braid. To prevent clothes from getting dirty from hair, sailors came up with a large detachable collar on the back.

Wigs and long hair the navy has long been gone, but the removable sailor collar has still been preserved, because its design is convenient and simple, like everything ingenious.

On Friday, my daughter will have a performance at school, for which we need a sailor-style costume. I think the best thing is to make a removable sailor collar that can be attached to any white blouse.

The sailor collar belongs to the group. Therefore, if the collar is sewn into the neck of the product, then its construction must be done on the basis of a drawing of the back and front of the product. For example, like this

This drawing is copied from the book “Courses for cutting and sewing at home” by Martoplyas L.V. and etc . If you are interested in just such a collar, you can download the book and figure out how to build a flat-lying sailor collar yourself.

I will make a removable collar, the design of which does not depend on the design of the blouse or shirt on which it will be fastened.

Necessary measurements for construction:
Half neck girth Ssh
Shoulder width Shp

I will use the measurements of a girl 10 years old, height 152 cm
Ssh = 16.6 cm
Shp = 12.4 cm

To construct the collar design, you will need a sheet of paper measuring approximately 60 by 20 cm.

1. In the upper left corner we mark point A, from point A we draw a vertical line down and a horizontal line to the right.

2. On the vertical from point A downwards, set the width of the collar on the back to 16-18cm, mark point G.
AG = 16 cm

3. From point G down, set the height of the back neckline down, mark point G1. Calculate the height of the back neckline using the neck half-girth measurement Ssh.
GG1 = (S w / 3 +0.5) / 3 = (16.6/3+0.5)/3 = 2.0 cm

4. From point G1 to the right we set aside the width of the back neck, mark point G2
G1G2 = S w / 3 +0.5 = 6 cm

5. From point G2 to the right, set off the width of the collar along the shoulder, mark point P.
Let's take the width of the collar along the shoulder equal to the measurement of shoulder width Shp. In that case
G2 P = Shp = 12.4 cm

6. Through point P we draw a vertical upward until it intersects with the horizontal from point A. Let us denote the intersection point as A1. That's it, the part of the collar that will be located on the back side is built. All that remains is to build the front ends of the collar.

7. From point P downwards we continue a vertical 30 cm long, mark point P1.

8. From point P1 to the left, set aside the width of the ends of the collar, mark point P2.
P1P2 = 6 cm

9. Smoothly connect point P2 to point G2. All collar is built.

I’ll tell you about the processing technology next time, as well as why the collar is made white and blue (the color of the sea has nothing to do with it, a woman is involved in this story).

Master class on tailoring New Year's costume for a boy “Sailor” (visor cap and collar).

For work you will need: white satin crepe, dublerin, blue gabardine, white satin ribbon 0.5 cm wide, blue satin ribbon 2 cm wide, anchor applique, threads in the color of all fabrics.

1. Make a pattern for the cap. First you need to measure the circumference of your child's head. You can do this right away on paper - cut a strip 5 cm wide and roll it into a ring. Place the ring on the child’s head and select the diameter so that it fits well on the head, but does not sit too deep. We cut the strip end-to-end and get a band pattern. Now we make the pattern for the hat itself. It is necessary to measure the length of the resulting strip - this is the value L. Now you need to: calculate the internal RADIUS using the formula r = L/2π and the external RADIUS using the formula R = r+7cm. the center of both circles coincides. We build a pattern and cut it out of paper. For a cap, you will need two parts: the crown and the upper part, but only one can be cut out of paper, since the second is simply cut out according to the outer diameter.

2. We cut out all the parts from dublerin (very dense!). We cut out the band with a fold, i.e. the strip is 10 cm wide.

3. Using an iron, glue the dublerin for the band onto the blue gabardine, do not forget to make indents for the increases: 1 cm at the top and bottom, 1.5 cm at the sides. If you think that one layer of doublerin is not enough to make the band rigid, you can make several layers, but not too many, otherwise the machine will not sew through these layers later.

4. Cut out the band.

5. Glue the dublerin for the top to the wrong side of the white crepe satin.

6. We also glue the crown.

7. Cut out both parts with 1 cm allowances.

8. Fold the band in half, with the double inward.

9. Steam well with an iron.

10. We chop off the parts of the visor with the right sides facing inward. If you have little experience, then it is better to sew with small stitches along the edge, since crepe-satin tends to move when sewing.

11. Sew along the outer circle.

12. We cut increases along the entire outer circumference.

13. Turn the cap inside out and straighten the edges well. If necessary, you can steam the edges of the cap.

14. Place the increase on the crown on one side inside and bait it.

15. Do the same on the second side.

16. Notch the increase in the inner circumference.

17. Use chalk, which can be easily removed, to mark the place where the band is attached.

18. Fold the crown with the band. Place the crown seam allowance into the band. Bait around the entire circumference. At the beginning of baiting, the side extensions of the band are not tucked in, but we begin to bait directly from them.

19. At the end of the band, we tuck the side increases inside the band and place this part on the unfilled increases of the other end of the band.

20. When we make the joining of the ends of the band, we carefully “feel” the duplicated parts. These parts must lie end to end, otherwise the cap will be too big or too small.

21. Carefully attach the band to the edge.

22. Using one line, sew the joint on the band.

23. Cut out 2 ribbons, 40 cm each. We melt the edges with a lighter so that the ribbons do not fray.

24. We pin the ribbons to the wrong side of the band - at the place where the joint is located.

25. Using a “forward needle” stitch, sew both ribbons in two steps. First, the product is stitched with small stitches using a “forward needle” seam (basting stitch), then the product is turned 180° and sewn with the same seam in reverse side. New stitches fill the gaps between previously made ones, the needle goes into the same punctures. In this case, you need to sew in such a way as to touch only the wrong part of the band, so that the thread does not come out on the face.

26. This is how it turns out.

27. We outline the location for the applique - it should be exactly opposite the ribbons.

28. Sew on the applique with a hidden seam.

29. The cap is ready.

30. Making a pattern for the collar. We will need three measurements: half neck circumference (Ssh), shoulder width (Shp) and back collar length (Di). It is best to build a collar on graph paper, then all the straight lines will be exactly perpendicular and this will make it easier to measure the desired size.

In the upper left corner we mark point A, from point A we draw a vertical line down and a horizontal line to the right. From point A downwards we plot the length of the collar on the back (Di), mark point G.
From point G down, we set the height of the back neck down, mark point G1. We calculate the height of the back neck using the formula:

GG1 = (Ssh / 3 +0.5) / 3
From point G1 to the right we plot the width of the back neck, mark point G2, and calculate using the formula:
G1G2 = Ssh / 3 +0.5
From point G2 to the right we set off the width of the collar along the shoulder (Шп), mark point P.

Through point P we draw a vertical upward until it intersects with the horizontal from point A. We denote the intersection point as A1. That's it, the part of the collar that will be located on the back side is built. All that remains is to build the front ends of the collar.

From point P downwards we continue a vertical 30 cm long, mark point P1.

From point P1 to the left we set aside the width of the ends of the collar (5-6 cm), mark point P2.

Smoothly connect point P2 to point G through point G2. All collar is built.

31. Cut out 2 pieces from blue gabardine with 1 cm increments.

32. We begin to decorate the collar with a white satin ribbon. In order to know exactly where the increase line is, draw a pattern on the face of one of the collar parts with chalk. Having retreated 0.3-0.5 mm from the edge, we begin to bait the first tape. When we reach the corner, we roll the tape in this way: first we wrap it under the working tape away from ourselves at an angle of 45 degrees.

33. Then we cover the working tape with it and straighten it so that the tapes lie exactly at an angle of 90 degrees to each other.

34. We bait all three stripes.

35. We attach the ribbons in two lines - on the right and on the left to the edge of the ribbon.

36. This is what we get.

37. We chop off both parts of the collar face to face.

38. Sew the collar, leaving a small unstitched area for turning.

39. We cut off all the corners so that when turned out they straighten out evenly.

40. We make notches on the part adjacent to the neck.

41. Turn the product inside out.

42. We turn out the entire product.

43. We ALWAYS steam through a thin material, since gabardine can give shine when steamed.

44. We sew up the part that was left for turning. For symmetry, I recommend stitching the second end of the collar in the same way.

45. Using a needle, draw the threads from the stitching to the seam, and secure them there with a knot.

46. This is how the collar turns out.

47. Rear view.

48. Front view.

49. Now we make the securing ring. Cut 10 cm satin ribbon, burn the ends.

50. Roll it up like this.

51. We sew with a “forward needle” seam in two steps.

52. Thread the ends of the collar into the ring and tighten.

53. Our costume is ready. Happy New Year!
