In my little black box

I have already been asked several times in the comments where and how I store my cosmetics supplies at home. To be honest, I’m still in the process of organizing and arranging new storage spaces, but I can show you something. Not long ago I bought a very successful item, as a result of which my nail polish collection was finally well placed and practically systematized. Here's where it's currently located:

I have already shown two press kits - with varnishes - and they are filled with the same varnishes that came in them.

Some pictures are enlarged - please note if you want to take a closer look.

The next container is the L’Etoile cosmetics case ( general form I already showed it in):

In it I placed varnishes of those brands that I have a relatively large number of copies of. This Estee Lauder, China Glaze, Essence topcoats:

Sally Hansen(Nail Prisms series, rarity), O.P.I. (without one polish - I lost it somewhere), Rimmel, Sally Hansen (Xtreme Wear series) and the lonely Nubar in its own separate nest:

Manicure products are laid out in boxes below.

Separately, a box with top coats (not dryers) and nail art products (I don’t know why I bought them - I never started painting on my nails):

The box with bases is the most popular: there are both healing and leveling bases.

Separately - a box with various accessories:

These are magnets for magnetic varnishes with different designs, a set for Dior craquelure (last year I used it on my nails), a strange set rings for coloring Essence, their stencils for French hair and a bunch of files that I don’t use for various reasons or use inactively:

Dryers for varnish live in a separate transparent suitcase, since there are a lot of them.

This is what I have on this moment available in assortment:

I have another suitcase like this, where I put rarely used varnishes of non-standard sizes, but I did not remove it.

But the most important and interesting thing is my large suitcase, in which the main part of the varnishes is stored.

A short introduction is needed here.

The fact is that I always wanted to store varnishes “on their side,” as in the large suitcase shown above: it is in this position that their shades are most visible, while when stored vertically, only the lids (or bottoms, depending on how you place them) are visible. but the color is poorly visible through the bottom). The ideal box for storing varnish for me was the L’Oreal “bottle” box, which I have already shown, but I only have one, and the slots there are made exclusively for L’Oreal varnishes, that is, of a specific shape.

As it turned out, the box simply opened, and the suitcase of my dreams was easily accessible. You just had to look not among cosmetic accessories at all. The solution was a suitcase for storing miniatures used in board games. It is very large (in a standing position it reaches my knees), but at the same time very light (while empty, of course), since it is made of plastic. Closes with convenient latches:

Wide, thick shoulder strap included:

And most importantly, here’s what’s inside:

These are foam inserts with cells. There are six of them in total, with forty cells in each:

Cells different sizes, although it is not noticeable at first. I will demonstrate using varnishes in bubbles of different heights:

This is how they fit into the cells - you can clearly see that M.A.C. and Vivienne Sabo, very different in size, each fit into its own cell almost perfectly:

In fact, cells with largest size I really miss it - most of my polishes are exactly this height. I laid out the varnishes according to color scheme, although not too strictly - the main thing was to place them as conveniently as possible.

All subsequent photos are enlarged.

Here the bulk are red:

Here - golden, orange, light:

In this sector - dark and blue (with a small amount of green):

The intermediate "edges" of the cells are easy to cut out, so for the Orly and Sally Hansen Salon Manicure series we made two cells in a row from three cells by cutting out the partitions and then inserting them in a new place:

The same thing was done for Dance Legend (I lost one of their bottles somewhere, so the cell is empty) - I think I’ll buy a lot more of their polishes, so this is not the end yet:

And here are separately collected those polishes that I have not yet worn and have not shown on the blog, respectively (but only those that are true to size - the rest are on my shelf and are diligently an eyesore):

The fact that the suitcase is not completely filled does not bother me: Intercharm is coming, and it remains to be seen how many polishes I will pick up there, as usual.

I am very pleased with the suitcase, although I had to work on the size of the cells. I highly recommend it - few people have probably heard of such things, but the thing is convenient.

What do you think of the idea of such storage?
Was it interesting to see the collection (or rather, most of it)?
And how do you store varnishes if you have a lot of them?

  • Before closing the bottle, breathe into it - carbon dioxide will displace oxygen, which destroys the varnish.
  • Place a small bead or metal ball into the varnish
  • Roll the bottle between your palms before use.

If you figure out how to store nail polishes correctly and make a suitable stand, you will enjoy them much longer.
