And finally, on February 8, and not on January 1, as many believe, the moment came when the monkey came into its own. The year has come, which will be ruled by an energetic, creative, restless and good-natured animal.
The Year of the Monkey is coming,
But the chimpanzee doesn’t know about it
About the coming New Year,
Only brings us joy.
What about people? People clearly know
That the year of the Goat is replacing another,
And it is called the Year of the Monkey,
And for sure, we’ll have him at our yard.
And he will bring peace big planet,
And both adults and children will be happy,
And the sun will smile at us, earthlings,
And a ray of sunshine will touch everyone.

I suggest you make such a cute monkey.

To work you need the following materials and tools:
- felt in two colors,
- chenille wire in the color of the monkey (1-2 pieces),
- thread, needle,
- satin ribbon 2 cm wide,
- beads, sequins, beads,
- scissors,
- glue,
- pencil,

Since a needle and scissors will be used in the work, we must not forget safety precautions with cutting and piercing instruments.
Execution order:
Step 1 – preparing patterns.
Cut out paper patterns.

Step 2 – preparing parts.
In this work, burgundy and beige felt was used. You can use any other colors. So, fold the burgundy felt in half, apply the head-body pattern, trace and cut out the parts. For those who find it difficult to cut out two parts at once, you need to trace the pattern twice. Place the muzzle, tummy and inner ears on beige felt, trace the patterns and cut out the details. This is what should happen.

From the chenille wire (its length is 30 cm), cut 14 cm for the lower limbs, 8.5 cm for the upper limbs, 7.5 cm for the tail. (The dimensions of the blanks can be changed). If your wire is shorter, take two pieces.

Step 3 – assembly of the product.
Place the two head-body pieces together and begin stitching with a buttonhole stitch. Insert the upper limbs between the parts first, continuing to sew the lower limbs and tail. Give the wire the desired shape.

Sew the monkey to the end. You can leave it this way without hair.

Or you can sew the hair on. In this case, wool was used for felting; you can also use wool threads or thinly cut strips of felt. The choice is yours.

Make a thread loop in the center of the head.

Cut out a nose for the monkey from burgundy felt and glue it to the face. Sew on eyes - sequins with beads. For eyes, you can also use beads, rhinestones, small buttons, ready-made eyes bought in a store - it’s up to you. Draw a mouth with a pen.

Glue the finished face, tummy and inner ears onto the monkey.

Step 4 – product design.
For the skirt, cut 15 cm. satin ribbon, singe the sections (can be replaced with lace or braid).

Sew one edge with a fine seam “forward needle” and pull it together, forming a beautiful gather.

Place the sections of the skirt on top of each other from the back and sew the skirt around the monkey.

Glue a small decoration to your hair, it can be a bow or a flower.

That's all. The monkey is ready.

Let the monkey New Year
It will bring us all joy,
And so that this year is active
Everything turned out wonderful for everyone!

To sew with your own hands according to the pattern I offer funny monkey made of felt, you won’t need much effort and time. Such soft toy made of felt your child will surely like it. And if we remember that the Monkey is the symbol of the future in 2016, then the little felt Monkey may well take pride of place on Christmas tree as a hanging toy. More ideas for sewing felt toys, see.

How to sew a symbol of 2016: a monkey made of felt with your own hands

To make a felt Monkey you will need:

  • acrylic felt 3 mm thick (brown, soft pink, yellow, hot pink);
  • needle;
  • scissors;
  • floss threads (brown, pink, black);
  • transparent polyurethane adhesive of the “Moment Crystal” type;
  • small pink beads;
  • 2 black beads with a diameter of 0.5 cm;
  • padding polyester;
  • bamboo skewer;
  • brush with hard bristles;
  • blush.

Felt Monkey Pattern

1 - back of the head;

2 - detail of the fur on the forehead;

3 - muzzle;

4 - torso;

6 - detail of the outer part of the ear;

7 - detail of the inner part of the ear;

8 - heel;

9 - tail;

10 - flower;

11 - flower core.

I cut out the details of the Monkey from felt:

  • 2 parts of the body, 2 parts of the tail, 1 part of the back of the head, 1 part of the fur on the forehead, 1 part of the nose, 2 parts of the outer part of the ears - made of felt Brown;
  • 1 piece of the muzzle, 2 pieces of the heels, 2 pieces of the inside of the ears - made of soft pink felt;
  • 1 flower detail - made of bright pink felt;
  • 1 piece of the flower core is made of yellow felt.

I glue the parts of the tail together and sew them along the contour with an overcast stitch using brown floss thread in two folds.

I cut out 1 part of the body from padding polyester and glue it to one of the similar felt parts.

I glue the tail on top of the padding polyester, and then the second part of the body made of felt.

Using brown floss thread in two folds, I sew the parts of the body with an overcast stitch, tucking the edges of the padding polyester part inside the felt craft.

To create additional volume as the toy is sewn together, I fill the lower and upper legs of the Monkey with scraps of padding polyester using a bamboo skewer.

I glued the heel pieces made of soft pink felt to the Monkey’s lower paws. In order for the glued parts to hold well, the glue should be applied in a thin layer to the entire surface of the heel part, and after gluing, firmly press the parts together.

I glue a piece of fur on the Monkey’s head to the part of the muzzle.

For control, it is advisable to compare the front half of the Monkey’s head made of felt with the part of the back side of the head and, if necessary, adjust the location of the fur part before the glue hardens.

From the reverse side, the finished part of the front of the Monkey’s head looks like this:

Where the part of the fur on the Monkey’s head meets the muzzle, I stitch it along the contour with brown floss thread.

To make the seam look more neat and not particularly conspicuous, I use a floss thread in one fold.

I cut out 1 piece of the head from padding polyester and glue it to the back of the front side of the Monkey’s head. Despite some inconvenience during further design of the muzzle, this is worth doing at this stage of work. This will make the face of the felt Monkey more lively and voluminous.

I glue the nose piece in the same way as the heel pieces.

Using a brown floss thread in four folds, I embroider the mouth, making a long stitch with a “forward needle” stitch.

At the end of the stitch I perform a French knot.

I sew black beads in place of the eyes, grabbing not only the felt, but also the padding polyester, and carefully tightening the working thread. This way the beads will not stick out too much and, hopefully, will look like eyes.

In the corners of the Monkey's eyes, I embroider eyelashes from felt using black floss thread in two folds.

I glued a flower made of bright pink felt and a yellow center to the part of the front half of the head.

I trim the core of the flower along the contour with pink beads.

I glue together the parts of the outer and inner surfaces of the ears.

I glue the parts of the ears to the part of the back of the head.

I sew the details of the head with an overlock stitch using double-folded floss thread. Moreover, I sew the upper part of the Monkey’s head with a brown thread, and the lower part with pink thread.

Using a hidden seam I sew the finished piece of the felt Monkey’s head to the body.

And finally, I tint the Monkey’s cheeks with blush, applying it using a brush with hard bristles.

As you can see, sewing a Felt Monkey with your own hands is not at all difficult!

And how much pleasure he will get from communicating with new toy Your child is simply beyond words! And don’t be surprised if the baby himself turns into a funny, cheerful Monkey for a while.

Felt toys are so warm and cuddly, cute and beautiful. They are simple to perform, but they bring so much joy to others.

DIY felt monkey - pattern and master class:

Before we start sewing a felt monkey, we need to print out a pattern with the details of the monkey.

We redraw all the details from the pattern onto felt in the required quantity of the desired color and cut it out with scissors.

Next, let's take all the parts needed to sew the head.

Place a cream colored circle on the brown circle.

We place the face on top of the two parts.

We sew all the parts together using overlock stitches and at the end of sewing leave a small hole for stuffing.

We fill the head with holofiber and sew up the hole with the same overlock stitches.

Next we sew the inside of the face.

In the same way as in the case of sewing the head together, we do the same with the monkey’s ears. We put a light one on the brown ear and a brown arch on top. Sew along the arcuate part with an overlock stitch.

We stuff the ear with holofiber.

We sew the inside of the ear.

We sew the eye along the bottom seam and form a shell.

We sew together the parts of the arms and legs.

We fill the arms and legs with holofiber.

Now let's start assembling the body. To do this, we begin to sew the body, then insert one handle, sewing it on and continue sewing the body to the place where the legs will be located.

We insert the legs and also sew them with overlock stitches.

Next, we sew the body, sew on the second handle and finish sewing by securing the thread.

We fill the body with holofiber.
We sweep the belly in a circle.

We sew the ears to the head, and sew the head to the body with hidden stitches.

We sew the tail along the entire length and also sew it to the body.

We make the monkey’s face out of felt, for this we sew on eyes from black beads, cut out a small nose and forelock from brown felt, and glue them with Moment glue. We embroider the mouth and navel with pink thread.

Powder your cheeks and a little belly with pink blush.

The felt monkey is ready. It is completely made by hand.
