Unusual knitwear. Knitting is unusual, but beautiful. Creative ideas for needlework Extraordinary knitting

Good afternoon friends!

Have you ever seen such beauty - such unusual blankets?

Until some time, I have not seen anything like this, more often they knit blankets from motives or with some kind of whole canvas interesting pattern. For example, there are bright ones on our blog.

The collection of unusual knitted blankets presented today has been lying in my folders for some time, since there are no diagrams or descriptions for any of them. This is a photo of finished blankets from etsy.com and foreign magazines. Now I still decided to come to grips with and think about how you can knit such unusual blankets with your own hands. Everything turned out to be brilliantly simple!

The principle of knitting unusual blankets from stripes

These beautiful double and multi-coloured knitted blankets are most likely suitable for their intended purpose, corresponding to their name: to hide or wrap up in them on cold evenings in front of the TV with a cup of coffee. I would definitely come in handy when I sit at the computer on days of severe frost outside the window.

Therefore, their size may not be large and can be connected relatively quickly, especially since there is no need to connect motives.

I don’t know how they would look on the sofa as a bedspread, it’s a matter of taste, of course.

Yarn for knitting can be taken of any type of wool mixture, acrylic or mixed and a hook corresponding to its thickness. Yes, I’m talking about unusual crocheted blankets, although you can also knit with knitting needles.

How to knit a plaid is probably already clear from the photo: in almost every one of them, first, separate long narrow strips are knitted along the fabric, i.e. along its longest side, with some kind of pattern, and then tie them around around the perimeter with yarn of a different color. I especially like the combination of any color with white.

An interesting and unusual result is a strapping that gives rounded or pointed toes on each of the strips.

Ready-made tied strips are sewn together, sometimes, depending on the pattern, the connection is made during the knitting process.

But the patterns of these blankets themselves can be both very simple and unusual, the latter are precisely what are of particular interest.

Patterns for unusual stripe blankets

Plaid with Irish flowers

This beautiful plaid is crocheted with a single crochet or with a crochet, alternating the color of the yarn in rows. Flowers are sewn on top of the finished plaid, knitted using the technique of Irish lace, you can take at least the patterns that I used when knitting napkins, here.

The edge of the plaid is decorated with tassels.

By the way, here is an option for a knitting blanket. We have another beautiful one, take a look.

Plain stripe plaid

Look at what a chic unusual crochet plaid looks original, and is connected surprisingly simply! I also found a schematic for it.

The strips are knitted with single crochets with light green yarn, at the ends, to get round capes, 6 double crochets should be knitted. Tied in white.

Plaids with openwork tracks

In the center of this beauty are openwork paths. I like all the options: both the plaid in delicate green tones, and the bright ones knitted from melange yarn.

The pattern for knitting openwork paths can be borrowed from the border with which I decorated mine.

And in the next enlarged photo you can clearly see how to tie them with double crochets: three in arches of the border.

Beautiful plaid with a knot of fur in the center of the stripes

Multi-colored plaid of unusual beauty! There is a fluffy path in the center of the plaid, patterned fur, and even from colored melange yarn.

When tying, you can use different patterns, dream up, alternating columns and bumps.

Plaids with paths from motifs and fillets

As an option for interesting blankets - make stripes from small round motifs or knit using technology sirloin knitting using simple, uncomplicated drawings.

Unusual blankets from connected rings

I was sick of this technique from rings a few years ago when I saw the idea of an unusual napkin and knitted one for myself. I already talked about a beautiful unusual knitted blanket, the one on the right in the photo. These stories of mine about the blanket and my napkin have been circulating on the Internet for a long time on different sites, but only search engines do not lead to my

Braided plaid

I thought for a long time how to knit this interesting plaid, and then I greatly enlarged the photo and realized that in the middle part there are three ordinary straight narrow strips of single crochets, woven into a braid.

It's very original.

Let me remind you that we have similar weaving methods.

But I don’t know how best to fix them and process them along the edge, but I think that it will be possible to figure it out in the process.

Here are my ideas for unusual blankets for you, crochet which are not difficult to make with your own hands.

Did you like it?

I have collected a collection of all the blankets of our blog in this video. Links to diagrams and descriptions can be found in.

Fancy knitting

This article is for those who already knit for sale, but are dissatisfied with their earnings. You may be interested in unusual knitting techniques that can be used both independently and combined with the usual ones.

Some of them came to us from ancient times, others appeared more recently. Some you may already be familiar with, others you've never heard of before.

Unusual knitting techniques for craftswomen of the XXI century

Let me tell you straight away that this is just short description different types needlework by the names of which, you can easily find training diagrams and videos on the Internet. It is also easy to buy tools for them through the World Wide Web, order a master, or even make it yourself. Here is the list itself:

  1. Brioche.
  2. Short rows.
  3. On a fork.
  4. Irish.
  5. Friform.
  6. Knucking.
  7. Tunisian.
  8. Tunisian double-sided crochet.
  9. Pooling
  10. Needle.

And now about each method in a little more detail.

brioche(brioche stitch two color) - two-color double-sided knitting, suitable for creating a wide variety of products from clothing to blankets.

Short rows(elongated rows, turning knitting) - allows you to create stunningly beautiful and completely unusual things with knitting needles. Also suitable for everything from shawls and slippers to plaids and cardigans.

Fork- for this, a hook and a fork are used - a wire arc in the shape of the letter "U". The openwork stripes crocheted on it are removed and connected to each other. This technique is suitable for shawls, scarves, openwork blouses, plaids, as well as for decorating products connected in other ways.

Irish knitting (irish lace, stacked lace). Crocheted separate elements (motifs), usually vegetable, which are collected in one canvas and connected. For this, a hook or needle is used. This is how shawls, blouses are made, summer dresses, swimwear, underwear.

Freeform(free form). Appeared in the twentieth century, thanks to Prudence Mapston, who showed the world that irregular knitting, without rules and patterns, can be incredibly beautiful. It, like the Irish one, is knitted from separate motifs and assembled into a single canvas. A variety of techniques, styles, thicknesses, as well as additional elements - rhinestones, beads, ribbons, etc. are welcome in one product. Suitable not only for clothes and blankets, but also for paintings, bags and various decor items.

Knooking- products are knitted with a special needle with a hook at the end. It turns out a dense elastic fabric that looks like knitted knitting. This technique is convenient to knit socks, mittens, toys and other small gizmos.

Tunisian an unusual way of crocheting a large length (at least 30 cm) with a limiter at the end so that the loops are not lost during work. During operation, the fabric is not rotated - it is knitted first from right to left, then from left to right. The product of such knitting keeps its shape perfectly, so that high-quality slippers, blankets, bags, coats are obtained from it.

Tunisian double-sided crochet. For him, two double-sided hooks are taken, and each row is knitted with its own crochet and, often, with its own color. Both of these unusual crochet techniques are all the rage right now, used on their own or in combination with others when you need a piece that holds its shape well.

Pooling– knitting sectional yarn on the knitting needles not with the usual spots, but with vertical stripes or other geometric patterns.

Needle (digging, nalbinding). For sure, knitting with a thick wooden or bone needle is the most ancient way to create a canvas from individual threads. This needlework has been preserved in the Russian north and in the north of Western Europe. We call digging, there nalbinding. A couple of years ago at the Museum of Archeology of Moscow, I photographed a medieval thing connected in this way:

And these are modern socks:

Of course, these are not all ways of knitting with unusual techniques, there are much more of them, so this article will certainly have a continuation. If you know knitting methods not mentioned in this article, write in the comments, I will add them to the next one.

Interesting article, I have been knitting for a long time. I have not heard about the freeform technique and pooling. I really like products made in the technique of brioche and Irish knitting but I haven't mastered them yet.
