Knitting mittens for those craftswomen who have long held knitting needles in their hands is a familiar and ordinary thing: most of them do this work mechanically, without thinking about the sequence of actions. For beginners to knit, such work will seem a little complicated, but fascinating and interesting. Schemes and a description of the process, how to tie a beautifully simple product will help you do the job correctly, efficiently and in an original way.

  1. In order for the mittens to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, not to squeeze your fingers or hand, you should start by determining the size. To do this, the brush is drawn on paper along the outer contour and the size of the product is calculated, as well as how many loops will need to be dialed for a certain size of the product.
  2. 48 loops are simultaneously cast on two knitting needles, after which one knitting needle is carefully removed and the entire amount is distributed into 4 equal parts (12 loops each) on different knitting needles. A marker is attached to the working loop so as not to subsequently lose the beginning of the circular row.
  3. Further knitting of the cuff with knitting needles is done with an elastic band, after which a few centimeters of the front surface will fit.
  4. 8 loops from the first knitting needle are removed on a safety pin, they gain the same number of loops to continue working. Knit in stockinette stitch to the end of the little finger, after which they begin to evenly decrease the loops, the last 8 loops are knitted loop into loop.
  5. To the 8 previously removed loops, the same number of additional loops are collected and distributed over 4 knitting needles. From the dialed amount, the thumb is knitted, the last pair of loops is knitted together with the front one.

Knitting mittens for those craftswomen who have long held knitting needles in their hands is a familiar and ordinary thing.

The instruction for making mittens for inexperienced needlewomen provides for the manufacture of the product with front stitch, as these are the simplest mittens, which can then be painted at your discretion.

  1. To get started, cast on 40 stitches, evenly distribute them on 4 knitting needles and close in a circle.
  2. Next, we knit according to the scheme, openwork leaves will emerge. On the 41st row, 6 loops are lowered onto a safety pin for a hole. thumb and continue knitting, dialing five loops for balance.
  3. Having knitted all the rows according to the scheme, they close the work and proceed to knitting the thumb, distributing 12 loops on 4 knitting needles. 15 rows are knitted with front stitch, after which 2 loops are knitted simultaneously on each knitting needle until the end.

The product on the second hand is knitted in the same way, in a symmetrical reflection.

Knitting mittens with braids: step by step instructions

Warm and original braided mittens can be knitted following a simple instruction and without deviating from the standard pattern. It is possible to make this product from thick coarse yarn, you can make the product thin and light.

  1. 52 loops are cast on a pair of knitting needles and work with a double elastic band 20 rows in a circle. In the last row add two loops.
  2. Starting from the 10th row, the finger is knitted gradually until 20 extra loops are formed. They are put on a pin and continue knitting according to the pattern.
  3. To knit a finger, knit the desired length, then connect 1 and 2 together at the same time with facial knitting, in the last row, 2 loops of the front. At the end, the remaining loops are pulled together.

The right mitten is knitted according to the symmetrical analogy of the left.

Knitted mittens with ornament

You can make men's or women's mittens with an ornament with your own hands from any yarn, but it is advisable to use white or gray threads for the base. Men will also prefer a black base, diluted with a gray ornament.

The pattern can be made with any thread of a contrasting color.

  1. 48 loops are cast on a pair of knitting needles, after which they are distributed over 3 knitting needles (16 loops for each).
  2. Knit 4 rows with a double elastic band, after which they introduce colored thread and knit a couple of rows. This sequence is repeated one more time. Then the cuff is ready.
  3. Knit four rows with a single-color thread using the front surface method, go to the ornament.
  4. For an ornament, the loops are redistributed in half and 24 loops are knitted according to the pattern. Having reached the second mark of the scheme, the number of loops begins to be reduced by 2 on both sides. So gradually close all the loops.
  5. They return to knitting fingers, which is carried out according to the standard scheme.

If you strictly follow the pattern of the ornament, then the mittens are cool and very creative.

In addition, Vera turned out very beautiful and elegant, you can see them in the photo. The description of the work is designed for the age of the child: 3-4 years, but according to this principle, large mittens can also be knitted.

Double mittens (knitting)

Do you want to knit mittens for your child, but don't know how? The master class on knitting children's double mittens will help you find the answer to your question. Connect the imagination, and it's not just everyday life Everyday life in frosty weather, but also a great present for your favorite holidays. After all, we have been taught since childhood: “The best is made by hand!”

  • Yarn: Moscow LAMA "Russian motive" (100 g / 300 m, yarn content: 40% wool, 60% acrylic)
  • Marker: piece of contrasting thread - 12 cm
  • Needles: two sets of stocking needles 2.5 mm and 3 mm.

Description

To keep the mittens on the wrists and not slip down, which is especially important for children, knitting must begin with an elastic band. In this example, one of the popular options is used - 2 persons.p., 2 out.p. And so that the product does not lose its marketable appearance during subsequent wear, the elastic band should be knitted with knitting needles of a smaller size than the knitting of the main part is supposed to be.

On stocking needles with a diameter of 2.5 mm, dial 40 sts. Evenly distribute 10 sts on each of the four knitting needles and knit an elastic band 2x2 for the next 50 rows. As the product begins to add row after row, it may seem that on the 20th row it would already be time to stop and move on to knitting the palm and thumb. But since the presented sample of mittens is double (with a lining), this number of centimeters of gum will fold in half.

So, after 50 rows, it was the turn of the front surface. At the same time, it is necessary to replace the needles with a 3 mm diameter. Continue knitting for 8 more rows. In the 9th, the thumb will begin.

The ways of knitting the thumb of the mitten are varied. This master class describes the simplest of them. To do this, knit 4 facial loops on the I-th knitting needle, insert a thread of a different color (marker) and knit the remaining 6 facial loops on the knitting needle.

Return to the main color yarn, finish the current row with facial ones, plus another 28 circular rows (total - 37 p. from the gum).

In the next row, i.e. 38th, starting from the 1st needle, start decreasing along the edges. At the same time, on the I-th and III-th knitting needles, reshoot the penultimate loop on right needle. Knit the last loop and pull it through the removed one (i.e. 2 p. Together with a slope to the right). But on the 2nd and 4th spokes, the slope should be to the left, i.e. Knit the first loop and pull through the second. Thus, decrease until there are two loops left on the knitting needles (total: 8 p.). Cut the thread at a distance of 5 cm and tighten the remaining loops. The left piece of yarn will be needed later to fasten the outer and inner mittens together.

Return to marker. Using a knitting needle, pull the thread out of the fabric. Cast on dropped stitches on knitting needles. Total: 6 sts at the bottom and 7 sts at the top. On the bottom row, pick up one more side loop on each side. They must be knitted in the first row crossed to avoid the appearance of holes in the canvas. In total, the thumb is knitted on 15 loops for the next 17 rows.

External ready. It's the turn of the "lining". To do this, dial 40 sts along the lower edge of the elastic so that the extreme loops remain at work.

Knit the next 8 rows in stockinette stitch. In the 9th row, knit 6 loops with a thread of a different color parallel to the thumb on the outer mitten. Return to main yarn. Continue with knit stitches for the next 26 rows. In total, 35 rows should turn out from the gum. Make allowances. Pull the last 8 loops with a thread, leaving a 5 cm tip.

Knitting the thumb of the inner mitten is no different from the previously described method. The only difference will be the number of rows, which are less than half a centimeter (15 rows in total).
As a result, it turned out double mitten.

With the ends of the yarn left earlier, fasten both parts on the inside and turn the fabric inside out. This must be done so that the child does not suffer in the future when putting on and taking off mittens, because. the lining will stay in place under any circumstance.
Run the right mitten following the example of the left.

The only exception is the choice of knitting needles for knitting the thumb. So, on the outer side of the canvas, insert the marker at the beginning of the 4th knitting needle. The inner thumb, respectively, will be parallel to the outer one. The choice of knitting needle in this case will depend on the beginning of the set of loops along the edge of the gum.

Run a twisted lace. To do this, cut the thread to the desired length. Fold the piece in half. Fix one end with a heavy object, on the other hand, start twisting the thread with your fingers. The longer you twist the piece, the tighter the lace will be. Next, fold it in half again, straightening along the length. Tie one of the ends into a knot to prevent deformation. With the help of a hook, stretch the lace behind the front loops at a height of 10 rows from the front surface.

Decorate the ends with pom-poms.

The final step will be the application on the outer mitten. It can be a flower or a butterfly if children's mittens are for girls.

A boyish pair of mittens will be decorated with a snowman or a bear. It all depends on the imagination of the author.

Happy creativity!

Mittens with braids for children 5 - 10 years old: diagram, description

children's mittens and hat, knitted braid pattern with shadow

Braids on mittens give originality to the product and add warming properties.

For work, choose yarn with wool and knitting needles, the diameter of which is equal to the thickness of the thread.

Before knitting:

  • take measurements of the child's arms, draw a diagram of mittens
  • knit a rib and braid pattern
  • determine the knitting density
  • convert cm values to loops

We offer as an example knitting mittens with braids for a teenager:

  • Cast on 52 sts and work 20 rows in 2x2 Rib,
  • in the last row of it, add 2 loops,
  • knit the braid pattern according to the pattern added at the end of the section,
  • from the 10th row, add loops for the branch of the thumb - 2px3p, 3px3p, 2px3p. Perform all of them facial,
  • slip the thumb sts onto a loose needle or pin, add 2 sts and continue knitting the mittens in the round with a braid pattern,
  • at the height of the tip of the little finger, start decreasing loops at the beginning and end of both parts of the fabric. You should form a triangle for your fingers,

Warm double knitted mittens for girls and boys from 1 to 10 years old: description

ready-made gray-white double mittens for a child with knitting needles

Warmer models of knitted children's mittens are double. But before you start working on their creation, consider the appearance.

In order for the baby to dress and wear them with pleasure, needlewomen mothers choose:

  • yarn color combinations with imitation of cartoon characters
  • unusual patterns resembling animals and birds, such as owl braids
  • simple knitting of two mittens different colors with subsequent dressing them one on top of the other in the arms of a child

Having determined the density of knitting and drawing a diagram of mittens, get to work.

A feature of the double model is one-piece knitting of the top and lining. That is, first you work on the front mitten, and then on the inner, wrong side.

  • pick up loops on the auxiliary thread and insert it in the place for knitting the thumb. Then it is convenient to pull it out, and transfer the open loops to the knitting needles and continue knitting,
  • knit the inner mitten with the front stitch in a mirror image from the outer one. That is, place your thumb on the same side.

For a description of the work for double mittens for boys, take, for example, from the figure below. But be sure to continue to either knit the inner mitten from the elastic, or cast on loops for a new work.

gray mittens hedgehogs knitted for a child

Original hedgehog mittens will warm the hands and delight the kids with their interesting look.

Knitting with knitting needles of a similar model is not particularly difficult, but requires care and patience.

  • You will need 2 types of yarn of a similar shade - regular and "grass".
  • After taking measurements from the child's arms, drawing the pattern and completing the knitting pattern, proceed to create mittens.
  • Knit them with knitting needles in any way convenient for you without drawings with a regular front surface.
  • From above, on the row of transition of the elastic band into the front loops on the outside of the mittens, type the loops with weed. Use a hook to lift them up. Collect on knitting needles.
  • In total, the number of grass loops is equal to 2 knitting needles of the knitted fabric plus 4 for rounding.
  • Connect the beginning and end of each front row with the main fabric of the mitten.
  • Sew the last row of "needles" with a needle to the finished mitten and cut the thread.
  • Crochet the ears. They are semicircular in a hedgehog and slightly elongated upwards, located after the end of the prickly hair, and not in it.
  • With black or pink yarn, embroider the nose of the hedgehog and add eyes. Suitable ready-made elements made of plastic or crocheted.
  • For greater resemblance, sew decorations in the form of apples, leaves on top of the grass.

See below for a detailed description of knitting hedgehog mittens.

  • repeat the steps to create the second mitten. Be careful with determining the place for the thumb on it,
  • the mouse's ears are rounded and stretched upwards. Therefore, crochet them from 4-5 air loops and 2 rows of single crochets. Place the top row not over all the columns, but only over the central ones,
  • sew on the ears and bead eyes, embroider the nose with black yarn,
  • for greater resemblance, crochet the tail of the mouse from air loops and sew grass in the first row on the outside of the mittens.

Mittens transformers with folding top knitting needles for a girl and a boy: description

blue convertible mittens with knitting needles on the hands of a boy

Active children sometimes in the game or to answer the phone you need to get your fingers out. It is so inconvenient to take off the whole mitten, and then put it on again. The way out is to knit the child with folding mittens.

Outwardly, they resemble mitts with a cap, which is attached to the outside of the fingers. Another difference is that they have a connected thumb house.

For knitting transformer mittens, choose interesting patterns, for example, from braids or voluminous "rice".

The preparatory steps are similar to those discussed in the sections above.

Operating procedure:

  • since the basis of mittens is mittens, the beginning and end of the main fabric is an elastic band. Her height is greater at the bottom,
  • leave 8-10 sts for the thumb and knit/pattern to the crook of the little finger,
  • change the pattern to a 2x2 elastic and continue to work until the beginning of the nail plate on the little finger,
  • at the level of the knuckles, lift the loops from the main fabric in the amount of 2 knitting needles and get the same amount minus 4,
  • on the inside of the palm of the loop, knit with an elastic band to a height of 1-2 cm, then go to the front surface,
  • continue knitting in a circle to the tip of the little finger,
  • decrease the loops in the usual way for yourself,
  • tie your thumb either after completing the convertible top or before starting work on it,
  • repeat the steps for the second transformer mitten.

two-tone ready-made children's knitted mittens

The order of work for knitting mittens with knitting needles from 2 colors of yarn is similar to one-color. But there are many more combinations and weaves of yarn.

Needlewomen, depending on their imagination and knitting skills, choose:

  • simple alternation of colors, for example, in the form of horizontal stripes,
  • jacquard patterns, when on the outside of the mittens are decorated, for example, with butterflies, deer, snowflakes, snowmen, bullfinches, and on the inside - the colors of the yarn alternate through 1 loop or vertical stripes,
  • embroidery of finished mittens with a thread of a different color. At the same time, they imitate the knitting of the loop, denoting both parts of it with contrasting yarn,
  • inserting the second yarn only on the elastic band, thumb and tip of the mittens.

For inspiration, let's insert a few photos of finished works for a boy and a girl.

Knitted chanterelle mittens for children: a diagram with a description

cute fox mittens for a child, knitted

Continuing the theme of animals on children's mittens, let's turn your attention to chanterelles. Needlewomen knit them in different ways, trying to please the children with a warm and cheerful thing.

We conditionally divide the knitting techniques of chanterelle mittens into 2 categories:

  • simple
  • advanced

In the second case, you have separate elements:

  • the tail is the thumb
  • head with ears and eyes - sewn on top on the back of the mittens
  • 2 paws - hanging under the head. Some models do not have them, this is optional.

See below for a detailed description of knitting chanterelle mittens for children.

Children's mittens with knitting needles with bullfinches: a diagram with a description

lilac mittens with bullfinches for girls knitting

One of the winter birds that stay with us in the cold is the bullfinch. Even if your winter is milder, warmer and without them, knit mittens for your child with their portrait.

Needlewomen knit such mittens in 2 ways:

  • knitting bullfinches according to the scheme
  • create separate parts of the body of a bird with a hook from multi-colored yarn, followed by sewing to the finished product

The first option is good for mittens for a teenager and older. For a very tiny hand, for example, a 5-year-old baby, such painstaking work on a pattern can alienate a mother-needlewoman because of the length of knitting.

Therefore, a good alternative is the second option for knitting bullfinches. And the birds are more voluminous in this case.

Tie the mittens in any of the previously discussed ways or in what is closer and more understandable to you personally.

For a girl, add openwork holes on an elastic band of mittens. Pull crocheted laces with fur pom-poms at the ends through them.

In the variant of mittens for a boy, draw a bullfinch with a laconic branch and / or a couple of rowan berries.

In the second case, decide colors mittens. For example, you should get a striped smiling cat. Then knit the mittens with knitting needles, alternating strips of yarn. But make the toe in one color to embroider eyes, nose, mustache and a smile on it. On both sides of the toe, tie the ears of the cat with the second color.

As a basis, take any of the above descriptions of knitting mittens for children, just add a pattern of cats or give them the appropriate shape.

Children's mittens paws with knitting needles: a diagram with a description

mittens paws in a knitted set for a child

For children - lovers of cats and cat themes in the wardrobe, knit mittens-paws.

You need:

  • dark yarn 70 g and white 20 g for paws
  • knitting needle set
  • leftover yarn in any contrasting color
  • hook
  • scissors
  • needle with thread in the color of the main yarn
  • flexible meter or ruler

Description of work:

  • take measurements of the child’s hand, tie a sample of the fabric with an elastic band and the main pattern, draw a diagram of mittens with the designation cm and the number of loops,
  • dial the required number of loops, distribute them on the knitting needles and knit in a circle with an elastic band to a height of 7-8 cm,
  • switch to the main pattern and, if desired, to larger needles,
  • mark the place for the thumb by knitting the loops with a contrasting thread,
  • at the height of the tip of the little finger, start decreasing the loops. Since the cat's paws are more oval than triangular, then knit 2 loops together the whole row. After a series without reductions. Next - again 2 loops together,
  • pull the rest of the loops with a thread. Hide its end inside the mittens,
  • Crochet a chain of air loops with white yarn. Gently fold each in a circle to form the base of the foot and toe pads.
  • Either connect the chains into finished round webs, or wind them on finished mittens. In the second case, fix each circle on 4 sides with a needle and thread.

Knitting pattern for mittens paws:

The “knob” pattern is quite voluminous, therefore, for knitting mittens for a child, do not get carried away with it too much. The bulges on the canvas can prevent the handles from bending.

For example, continue the elastic on the back in the middle of the fabric, followed by crossing the loops into a braid. At the top, add a fan of facial loops that end in bumps.

Or tie a wide sleeve zone openwork pattern with the addition of beads. Separate this zone on the wrist with an elastic band 1x1 or 2x2, reducing some of the loops. Then continue knitting mittens in a way convenient for you.

Knitting mittens for a teenager girl and boy

fashionable knitting mittens for a teenage girl

Mittens for a teenager are in many ways similar to knitting patterns for adults. The calculated number of loops differs to a small extent, as do the parameters of the palm.

For example, choose an interesting model for mittens for a teenager, taking into account the measurements of his / her hand, among the models that we will consider in a future article on knitting men's and women's gloves with knitting needles.

Video: how to knit children's minions mittens with knitting needles?

Either the fashion this year is like this, or it just coincided, but in the news feeds about knitting, the Owl pattern periodically flashes. I looked at this case, looked ... and could not stand it: I knitted double mittens with this pattern.

For knitting, you will need 50 grams of yarn, stocking knitting needles No. 2.5 and 3, a needle for sealing the ends of the threads, four beads or buttons (make owl eyes). The calculation of the loops is given for the product for the age of 2-3 years.

For knitting mittens, I took two types of yarn: "" in four threads and "YarnArt - Baby". The first yarn is wool (for warmth), the second is 100% acrylic, but in a very beautiful color.

Knitting pattern

  1. Start knitting from the inside. Dial on knitting needles No. 2.5 36 loops (a multiple of 2). Knit an elastic band (15 rows with an elastic band 1x1).
  2. Go to needles number 3. Continue knitting mittens according to the pattern described in the article "". Close the loops with a “triangle”: knit two loops together at the end of the first and third knitting needles and at the beginning of the second and fourth.

Pull the thread through the last 8 loops and tighten. The end of the thread can be immediately closed.

  3. Disassemble the set. Check that there are 36 loops on the knitting needles (the same number as when knitting the inside of the mittens).

  4. Attach a thread of a different color, knit 15 rows with an elastic band 1x1 on knitting needles No. 3.
  5. Knit the mitten mirror in relation to the inside. My pink threads turned out to be thick enough to make the outer part of the mittens wider and slightly longer than the inside. But if the yarn is of the same type, then 4 loops should be evenly added at the end of the knitting of the elastic band and a couple of rows to increase the length of the mittens.

  6. Knit 10 rows in stockinette stitch. Redistribute the loops on the needles so that the owlet settles in the middle of the back of the mittens. For the pattern, you will need 12 loops - respectively, 12-8-8-8.
  7. Knit 3 rows, purl 12 sts on needle.
  8. Continue knitting according to the pattern below. Do not forget to remove the loops for knitting the finger 15 rows after the elastic!

1st row, 11th row: 2 purl loops, crosshair 2x2 loops (2 first loops in the back) - knit facial, crosshair 2x2 loops (2 first loops in front) - knit facial, 2 purl loops
2-10 row, 12-16 row: 2 purl loops, 8 facial loops, 2 purl loops
17 row: 2 purl loops, crosshair 2x2 loops (2 first loops in the back) - back loops knit purl, crosshair 2x2 loops (2 first loops in front) - back loops knit purl, 2 purl loops
18 row: 2 purl loops, 1 facial, 6 purl loops, 1 facial, 1 purl loops

  9. Return the loops to the knitting needles as it was at the beginning of knitting. Continue knitting, knitting facial loops over the front loops, purl loops over the wrong ones.
  10. Close the loops with a "triangle". When closing the loops, to obtain a neat edge on the needle, there should always be three front loops on the sides of the pattern.

  11. Tie a finger.
  12. Knit a second mitten. Hide the ends of the threads. Sew on the eyes of the owlets.
