Julia, I read that you are a lawyer by training. How did you decide one day to tell everyone that you would design clothes?
It wasn't easy. I always dreamed of doing fashion design, but circumstances so happened that I went to study to become a lawyer. Then my parents influenced my choice. At the age of 17, we can’t yet choose for ourselves where to go. I didn’t want to quit studying under any circumstances, so as not to upset my parents. I think this is a good liberal arts education. There are situations when I am even grateful to my parents for receiving such an education. But after graduating from college, I started doing what I loved and gradually created my own brand.
- Who supported you at the very beginning of your journey?
Only my family supported me; they always believed in me. And this support undoubtedly played a role. Maybe nothing would have happened without her.
- What difficulties did you encounter in developing your skills and how did you solve them?
On initial stage Everyone faces certain problems because fashion design is not only a creative side, but also a business. You have to learn many issues: organizing projects, preparing certain documents, and so on. But you can learn everything in life if you have a desire, a goal and a favorite thing. Everything is solved.
According to your horoscope, you are Cancer. I am also a Cancer, and I know from myself that it is common for representatives of this zodiac sign to doubt themselves. How do you deal with this?
Yes, there is such a feature. Constant doubts, yes or no. You constantly work on yourself. Often close people help you make the right decision. But over time, you harden yourself, you get older and you make decisions easier.
- Your fans are many famous women. How did you do it?
In fact, there was no such goal at all - to dress star girls. I started sewing from the heart, exactly the clothes that I wanted to make. At that time I was doing everything completely alone. I had a lot of responsibilities, there was no PR manager or manager, I did everything myself. And it turned out that many stars themselves began to call, found my direct contacts, and said: “I really like this dress, how can I buy it?” This is how the brand became recognizable and popular, including among celebrity girls.
- What would be the best gift for you today?
It's a difficult question. I really don't know. Seriously, my pace of life is now so fast that all my dreams and ideas come true very quickly. In a short period of time, I did a lot and achieved a lot for myself.

Her column has been on the air for quite some time, however, to my surprise, it did not find much audience interest. And only during one of the last programs - about the special path of Russia - I realized that Ms. Prokhorova was simply not ready to host such an obliging column.
So, “Russia’s Special Path”. What is it about? Perhaps about discrepancies in the understanding of civilizational components of development? About a new look at Westernism and Slavophilism? About where Russia is turning – towards Europe or towards the East? Finally, very down to earth: about French disputes regarding family A and B, their children and the perception of all this in Russia? And if neither one, nor the other, nor the third, then in any case something about the ethno-cultural characteristics of Russia, and with any sign - either a plus or a minus - depending on the preferences of the TV program host. The conversation itself on this kind of topic would be interesting, calling the viewer to his own thoughts about the vector of Russia’s civilizational path. Moreover, the subtitle of the program contained something significant: “Where will Russia’s special path lead?”
But alas, alas, the word “civilization” was not even mentioned in the program on spiritual values. Anyone who has not seen the program will never guess what “spiritual values” and what “special path” were discussed in it. The presenter and her interlocutors reduced the special path of Russia, around which disputes have been going on for centuries, to... Putin’s policies, to modernization and the current relations between the state and society, which are supposedly replaced by the “number of factories.”
In other words, it was the most ordinary political science program, which had absolutely nothing to do with spiritual values, but aimed to substantiate certain purely political principles of the current stage of development and latently “worked” for the owner of the channel, Prokhorov. Simple, but not tasteful. By God, this is not the primitive approach the viewer expected from the “Spiritual Values” column and its presenter, who positions herself as a kind of “guru” regarding spiritual problems.
By the way, in other programs of the column, it is often not thinkers who take part, but, I would say, “fighters of the ideological front,” journalists, propagandists, and political scientists. And we are often talking primarily about fluidity, but not at all about the eternal, which is an obligatory component of thinking about spiritual values. The editor-in-chief of a very expensive literary magazine, focused primarily on global, but not Russian problems (this is evidenced by the composition of its editorial board), judging by the series “Spiritual Values”, is simply not ready to think about these obligatory universal topics, but is slipping into the usual discussion of ordinary political science problems, as if preparing the future political platform that Irina Prokhorova’s brother is constructing, and acting as his consultant.
However, so far the counseling has been rather weak. Powerful, unbiased programs on the topic of spiritual values could attract much more attention than thin, essentially political science programs. But is Irina Prokhorova capable of such an approach? Is she too biased herself?

Let's start with the traditional, but no less interesting question. Julia, tell us how your journey into the world of high fashion began?
From the early childhood my favorite pastime was coming up with dresses for my dolls and drawing sketches. When I got older, I started sewing for myself, altering some ready-made outfits, but at the same time I “added” my own to them own ideas, gave each dress individuality. Oddly enough, I always managed to predict fashion trends. Moreover, it’s difficult for me to explain how this happened, I call it fashion intuition.
All the time while I was in school, and then in college (at law school - my parents insisted on this), I was thinking through a plan to create my own brand. This dream never left me for a minute. That is why I decided to leave my small business in Krasnoyarsk, move to the capital and start working on my first clothing collection right here in Moscow - the epicenter of fashion life in Russia. It seems to me that it was not in vain that I decided to take this fateful step.
Each of your dresses is distinguished by its special femininity, tenderness, softness and sophistication. Tell me, was this concept for your brand born from the beginning, or did you come to it through trial and error?
Surprisingly, many of the items in the collections that we are sewing now are created according to my school sketches. From the very beginning, I wanted to create exclusively feminine things that make girls truly gentle, touching and elegant at the same time. In addition, the new look style has always been close to me, because in such simple, feminine and romantic dresses a woman can feel like a movie heroine or an actress on the red carpet. And, I’m not afraid to seem immodest, but our brand was one of the first to set the fashion in this direction. So, we have something to be proud of.
In my collections the emphasis is on long dresses in the style of the 50s. In my opinion, the maxi length is absolutely magical. She works real miracles with a woman: she changes her posture, gait, and sometimes even her fate. In the fairy tale about Cinderella, it was the magic dress given by the fairy godmother that became the starting point for the transformation of the main character. In our dresses, every girl becomes a real princess.
Today many of Moscow's star beauties are fans of your brand: Kristina Asmus, Victoria Bonya, Anzhelika Agurbash, Aurora, Tatyana Dyuzheva and many others. Your brand was represented by Alena Shishkova and Ksenia Borodina. How did you manage to attract the attention of such famous stars to your dresses?
You know, I have never been specifically involved in attracting celebrities. They themselves got in touch with me: they found out how to buy dresses, came to the showroom, then brought their friends... As a result, we became friends with many of them. Here, the practice of “word of mouth” probably worked - the beauty and quality of my dresses, perhaps immodestly, speak for themselves. This, for example, happened with Ksenia Borodina, who even took part in several of our very successful projects, the last of which was shooting the lookbook for our latest Family look collection fall-winter 2014/15. She starred in it with her charming daughter Marusya.
I want to say that in Beloe Zoloto boutiques there is no division between “star” and ordinary clients. To tell the truth, we don't like to call our customers clients. After all, they are all, first of all, our friends, and any woman who crosses the threshold of our boutiques or is a subscriber to our social media. All these girls are united by incredible elegance, softness and the desire to be real woman. Each such girl is a real queen for us, and meeting her is a great honor and joy.
It is clear that the “main hero” of every lady’s wardrobe should certainly be an outfit from Yulia Prokhorova and her fashion house Beloe Zoloto. What else, in your opinion, can’t a modern girl do without today?
Jeans, comfortable ballet shoes, a tote bag, a white shirt and, as you correctly noted, a dress from our brand - this is a universal set for all occasions for active girl, like me, for example.
As for, say, accessories, I’m not a fan of costume jewelry and massive jewelry. I usually wear a chain, bracelet, watch and wedding ring Cartier. This is quite enough for me.
If we talk about shoes, I can say that I adore shoes high heels, but, unfortunately, the metropolis dictates its own rules, so my choice for every day is ballet flats or sneakers.
