In order to knit a pullover for a boy 6-9 months old

we need 150 gr. thin acrylic melange yarn, knitting needles No. 4,5 and No. 5.

Knitting description:
Rubber: We knit alternately 1 front loop and 1 purl loop.
Purl garter stitch: we knit all rows with purl loops.

Right back shelf: on knitting needles No. 4.5, cast on 25 loops and knit the first 20 loops with an elastic band, knit the remaining 5 loops with purl garter stitch - this will be our fastening bar. At a height of 2 cm, we continue working with needles No. 5 in purl stitch, and also knit the placket in purl garter stitch. At a height of 20 cm from the beginning of knitting for the armhole after the edge loop in each 2nd row 5 times, 1 loop. There are 20 loops left in the work.
At a total height of 32 cm, cast off 10 stitches for the shoulder, and slip the remaining stitches onto an auxiliary needle, including the placket loop.

Left back shelf: knit symmetrically right shelf backrests

Before: cast on 47 loops and knit with a 2 cm elastic band, in the last row add 1 loop = 48 loops. then we continue to knit with needles No. 5 as follows: 18 loops in purl stitch, knit the central 12 loops according to the pattern, 18 loops in purl stitch.

At a height of 20 cm from the beginning of knitting, close on both sides in each 2nd row after 1 edge 5 times 1 loop. There are 38 loops left in the work.

After 7 cm from the beginning of the armhole for the neckline we close the central 10 loops, for rounding in each 2nd row there are 2 loops and 2 times 1 loop.
At a total height of 32 cm, close off 10 loops for the shoulder.

Sleeves: on knitting needles No. 4.5, cast on 27 loops and knit 2 cm with an elastic band, then switch to knitting needles No. 5 and knit with purl stitch. On both sides we add 1 loop in each 4th row 7 times. In total, the work turned out to be 41 loops. At a height of 19 cm from the beginning of knitting, decrease on both sides after 1 edge 5 times 1 loop. The remaining 31 loops are closed at once. The total sleeve height is 23 cm.

Assembly: we sew the seams, sew the sleeves into the armholes.
Along the edge of the neckline, cast on 65 stitches on needles No. 4.5, including the loops left. We knit the first and last 5 loops with purl garter stitch, the remaining loops with an elastic band.
At a height of 2 cm, close all the loops according to the drawing.
On the right shelf we make 5 holes for buttons. Sew on the buttons.

Melange means mixture in French. Accordingly, melange yarn is a mixture of threads different colors or shades. The colors can be contrasting, then the knitted fabric turns out bright and a little like tweed. Or they can be shades of the same color, for example, brown or gray. Products are made from such yarn natural colors imitating fabrics made from undyed raw materials. Let's take a closer look at what melange yarn is, photos, compositions and what models can be knitted from it?

Melange yarn is produced from both synthetic and natural fibers. Melange is just a color designation for yarn that does not in any way affect the composition of the fibers. Therefore, melange yarn can be made from 100% wool, cotton, and also from mixed fibers, for example, wool plus acrylic, cotton plus viscose, mohair plus nylon.

Advantages and disadvantages of melange

Knitting with melange yarn is a real pleasure, especially for beginner needlewomen. Due to the variegated color, small defects and imperfections are completely invisible on the canvas. Another advantage is that to work with such yarn you don’t need to rack your brains over patterns, braids and arans, since even a simple stockinette stitch with knitting needles or pearl knitting looks very interesting and stylish. You can also keep it simple knitted models, simple things in melange look impressive (photo confirms this).

Well, the disadvantages can probably include its advantages. For craftswomen with experience who know how and love original knitting: weaves of braids and arans, complex openwork and other patterns, melange yarn is not a helper, but quite the opposite. Such a thread attracts too much attention to itself, and the ripples prevent you from focusing on the complexity and beauty of the pattern. For such patterns, a single-color thread or section-dyed yarn with fairly long horizontal sections is more suitable.

But still, there are patterns that are knitted with knitting needles, in which the melange thread will look very advantageous.

Waves with deflated loops

The repeat of such waves as in the photo, made of melange yarn, is 24 loops. The knitting pattern will be as follows:

  • from the first to the fourth row we knit all the loops to make a garter stitch;
  • fifth R (symbol for the word row) we start with four knit stitches, then knit 1 knit loop and yarn over, again 1 LP and N, now 1 LP and two yarn overs, again 1 LP and 2 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 H, then 1 LP, four N, again LP, 4 N, continue in mirror order: three times LP and 3 H, two times LP and 2 H, two times LP and one H, repeat ends with 4 LP ;
  • in the sixth R we knit 4 LPs, then we unravel the yarn overs and knit the loops with knit stitches;
  • from the seventh to the tenth R again garter stitch;
  • We start knitting the eleventh R with an offset so that the waves go in a checkerboard pattern. We start the row with RS and 4 N, RS, 3 H, RS, 3 N, RS, 3 N, RS, 2 N, RS, 2 H, RS, 1 N, RS, 1 N, now eight knits, RS, N , LP, N, LP, 2 N, LP, 2 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 3 N, LP, 4 N;
  • in the twelfth we repeat the sixth.

Simple openwork

One of the simplest openwork patterns knitting needles are perfect for knitting from melange yarn. The pattern repeat is only two loops:

  • in the first P we knit two loops together with a slant to the right, then make a yarn over. We continue alternating to the edge;
  • We knit the second and all subsequent even P according to the pattern, that is, with purl loops (if you knit in a circle, then all knit stitches);
  • in the third P we make an offset, which means we start with a yarn over, then two loops together with a tilt in right side. We alternate until the edge.

Repeat knitting from the first row.

Knitting from melange

What patterns can be made from melange yarn? Let's look at knitting an original jumper (as in the photo).

This jumper is made from melange yarn and is knitted from the neck down in the round. This is what the pattern looks like for sizes 36-38, 40-42 and 44-46.

Descriptions are given for working with yarn 120m by 50g and thickness of knitting needles No. 5 and No. 6. To get started you need to dial circular knitting needles 132 loops, close them into a ring and knit 16 cm with an elastic band. Next, we continue knitting with thicker knitting needles and knit 1 knit stitch, 23 loops with the main pattern, which is indicated in the diagram below, after 1 LP (mark the sleeve in this place), LP, seven purl loops, 25 loops of the pattern, seven IP again, LP (mark the sleeve), 1 LP, 39 purl loops, 1 LP.

In the third P after the neckline, you need to knit the first crossed purl loop from the raglan broach. We will knit the added loops IP.

We knit the right sleeve on 53 loops from the mark. In the first row we will dial 4 P on both sides. On both sides of the main pattern we knit with purl stitch.

We reduce the bevels through six P from the yoke, one loop at a time. Then in every twelfth row, 1st P.

For the back and front we knit 69 loops, cast on an additional 6 loops from the right sleeve. We continue to knit the jumper in the round, not forgetting to make the main pattern on the central 25 loops.

cap and pullover for boys useful in cold weather in autumn and spring. This pullover and hat will keep your boy warm and comfortable even on cold days.

Pullover sizes for boys are 128/134 and 140/146. For size 140/146, data is given using a dash.

To knit a pullover for a boy, you will need: thick blue melange yarn Schoeller/Esslinger "Tundra" (100% wool; 51 m/50g): 500600 g for the pullover and 150 g for the hat; some thin blue yarn for the cord; knitting needles No. 7, for elastic bands No. 6; for a set of double needles number 6 and 7.

Elastic band: alternate 2 knit stitches, 2 purl loops.

Purl stitch: knit row, purl stitches, purl row, knit stitches, for circular knitting we make only purl loops.

Knitting density: 12 stitches per 18 rows, equivalent to 10 cm x 10 cm, purl stitch.

Back: cast on 5256 stitches and knit 9 rows (total length 4 cm) with an elastic band, then knit in purl stitch. After 4652 rows (2629 cm) from the elastic, make marks for the armholes on both sides. After 3234 rows (1819 cm) for the neckline, close the middle 12 loops from the marks and finish both sides separately, from the inner edge close 4 more loops in the next 1st 2nd row. After 3638 rows (2021 cm) for the shoulders from the marks, close 1618 loops.

Front: make like the back, but with a deeper neckline. To do this, after 2426 rows (1415 cm), close the middle 6 loops from the marks and finish both sides separately, close in each 2nd row 1 time 3 loops, 1 time 2 loops and 2 times 1 loop from the inner edge.

Sleeves: cast on 28 loops and knit 9 rows with an elastic band (4 cm), continue working with purl stitch. In order to get bevels, add 1 loop on both sides 1 time in the 7th row from the elastic band, then 2 - 3 times in every 6th row and 8 times in every 4th row. The total is 5052 loops. After 56 62 rows, which is equal to 3134 cm from the elastic, close all the loops in one row.

Assembly: pin the pieces onto the pattern and moisten them, leaving them to dry. Sew seams and side seams to the marks. Along the edge of the neckline, cast on 56 stitches on stocking needles number 6 and knit in a circle of 8 cm (18 rows) with an elastic band, then bind off according to the loop pattern. Sew in the sleeves.

Knitting a warm hat: cast on 60 stitches on stocking needles number 7 and knit in the round for 25 rows (14 cm) with an elastic band, continue working with purl stitch. After 9 rows (5 cm) from the elastic, knit every 9th and 10th stitches together purlwise. In total you will get 54 loops. Repeat this decrease in stitches 4 more times in every 4th row above the previous decreases. In total you will get 30 loops. After 50 rows (28 cm) from the elastic, close the loops. Twist a cord of approx. length from blue threads. 80 cm and tie the cap with it at a distance of 10 cm from the top edge, tie the ends with a bow. Turn the elastic half way up.
