DIY Christmas tree topiary made of Christmas balls. New Year tree - topiary. Master Class. Napkin tree

Such floristic fiber as sisal can be seen today in every flower shop. Not one photo or video master class is dedicated to making sisal crafts. They make sisal from the leaves of the Mexican agave, it is such a grassy bush from the subtropics. Sisal fibers are coarse and stiff, but very durable. Of this fiber, ropes, ropes, washcloths, brushes are most often made. That is, production far from artistic creation.

But it was the masters of decorative art who drew attention to the fact that sisal is appropriate in needlework, as well as in a variety of types of decor. And now the video instructions tell how to build such beauty.

Before making a beautiful souvenir tree, you will need MK (master class) for the manufacture of sisal itself. If you could not find it anywhere, you can do it yourself. What you should start with is visiting a hardware store. Buy there a brush for whitewashing houses, it costs cheap, and you can pull a lot of fibers from it.

Choose brushes with a thin strong pile, the pile must certainly be natural.

The next point is how to make such sisal color:

  • Use dyes in tablets or powder;
  • Fill any vessel with hot water, add one tablespoon of vinegar, and then the dye itself;
  • Soak up the sisal into locks in the resulting solution for two and a half hours;
  • When the material dries, it can be spread out to dry on ordinary album sheets or napkins (of course, clean);
  • For interesting colors, you can mix shades;
  • Natural dyes are also used - in the photo you can evaluate how sisal is beautifully painted with your own hands with ordinary potassium permanganate, beetroot juice, coffee grounds, etc.

And if you need a snow-white workpiece, you can soak the sisal in "White", increasing the soaking time to six hours.

Very important: do not dry sisal on a newspaper or magazine sheets, it is possible that the letters are printed on the material.

There is also such a thing as wicker (linen) sisal. How to make it yourself? Another little workshop. Take the oilcloth, spread the prepared fibers on it in any order, and cover it well with wallpaper glue on top. Cover it all with another layer of film, press down with a flat board.

After a day, such a woven fabric can be used - for example, to make topiary from sisal.

Sisal balls for topiary: how to do

And one more simple master class for the future big crafts. It involves the creation of sisal balls with your own hands.

How to make sisal balls:

  • Divide the sisal into small pieces;
  • Each piece slowly roll in the palms.

You yourself decide what size you need to make the ball for the topiary. Rolling circles is very simple, the denser, the more reliable they will hold, the better the crown will turn out.

Sisal Topiary: Workshop

Well, now you can start making topiaries from sisal. If possible, shoot the process on video or photo, then to make a video or photo master class, teach other novice masters.

So you will need:

  • Sisal of a particular color (for example, purple). You can take several colors, if you are sure that you can combine it correctly.
  • The pot.
  • Gypsum.
  • A foam ball or any other ball for the base.
  • Water.
  • Sprig from the tree. Of course, the trunk may be different, but the branch will do just fine with this task.

Christmas tree topiary from sisal: New Year workshop

The most relevant videos and photo briefings are devoted to the manufacture of sisal topiary, whose model is a Christmas tree. Such a New Year's souvenir will be a great gift to friends and relatives. This New Year's souvenir is made very simple, and how to make such a tree on holidays is a hand-made thing is always a more valuable present when there is such a New Year occasion.

How is such a Christmas tree made? The main for the crown of such a tree will not be a ball, but a cone. Well, if the ball is clear where to get it, then how to make a cone? The easiest option is to twist it from cardboard. And it is better to fix the cone with tape, moreover, not ordinary, but paint - the future Christmas tree will be stronger.

Also, a plastic base for a children's pyramid or a foam blank is suitable as a preform.

  • The bottom of the cone must be closed in a circle;
  • Take a piece of wire, bend one end of it;
  • Insert the wire through the top of the cone, fix it with hot glue;
  • Make a hole in the circle with scissors, thread the circle on a pencil;
  • Finally, glue the cone on top of the pencil (the future Christmas tree), glue the circle from below;
  • Tear off a piece of sisal and fix it on the end of the wire with the same hot glue;
  • Wrap sisal tightly around the wire, and then begin winding movements around the cone, while each coil is secured with hot glue;
  • Sisal should thus wrap around the entire cone;
  • A pencil barrel can be wrapped with twine or pasted over with silver narrow adhesive tape.

Decorate the pot, too, whereby, you need to do this so that the color of the decor of the pot is consonant with the Christmas tree. For example, the Christmas tree is blue and the New Year's pot is also blue. If you want multicolor, it should also be in harmony. For example, the Christmas tree is green, and the pot is golden. In a word, a tree and a New Year's pot should have a color in common.

Well, such a tree will be decorated as you imagine. Check out photos or video examples of how other masters decorate a similar topiary of colored sisal. Christmas tree can be decorated with a mini garland, New Year's beads. A festive ball can even hang on it, and not one - only very small ones.

With your own hands, decorate the pot as well - with golden braid, satin ribbons, snow-covered fruits. Inside the pot, you can put a small New Year’s photo on top to make it clear who the gift is from.

Master Class. DIY interior decoration for the New Year

Christmas tree - do-it-yourself topiary

  Tsybanova Galina Anatolyevna, Lecturer, SBEI SPO "Tver College of Trade and Economics"
Appointment:  I like decorating my study room for the New Year.
  But in the computer class every square centimeter is occupied, so a small Christmas tree-topiary will be very welcome. Such a tree is not a shame to give, you can even put it on the holiday table.
Goal:
  - develop creativity
  - educate imagination and fantasy

Hello, New Year's holiday,
  Holiday Christmas trees and winters!
  All my friends today
  We will call on the Christmas tree.

Sparkle with the lights of the tree
  Call us for the holiday!
  Fulfill all desires
  Realize all your dreams!

For work, we need:

1. Materials for the Christmas tree itself:
A4 sheet of thick paper (I have drafting paper)
  40 cm aluminum wire
  Polyfoam 8x8 cm
  Lining fabric 10x10 cm
  Green thick threads for the Christmas tree itself and brown for the trunk
  PVA glue
  Clay "Moment"
  Sequins of two types
  Christmas tree beads 50 cm
  Braid for the bottom 30 cm
  Ribbon for bow 30 cm

2. Materials for the pot:
  Plastic cup
  Gypsum plaster
  Burlap 20x8 cm
  Lining fabric 8x8 cm
  Sintepon 8x8 cm
  Ribbon for decoration 20 cm (2 pcs)
  Sweets from candy (for "gifts")

3. Tools:
  Scissors
  Ruler
  Pen (or pencil)
  Pliers

The process of making Christmas trees:

1. Roll up the “fist” from a sheet of paper, adjust its width to the bottom.
  Lubricate the edges of the paper with PVA glue and press firmly.
  2. Attach a ruler to the top of the cone and measure it in the shortest part
  (this is the maximum possible height of the Christmas tree). Then, holding one end of the ruler
  and gradually turning the cone, make marks of the same length along the entire lower part.

  3. Scissors cut off excess paper. The base of the tree is ready.

  4. Place a cone on a piece of polystyrene foam, circle and circle the bottom carefully.

  5. Prepare the “trunk”: wrap a piece of wire on one side with a brown thread
  about 1/4 of its length. (I didn’t do it right away, so I felt uncomfortable)
  6. The upper part of the “trunk” to pierce the center of the circle of foam and insert it
  into the cone so that it protrudes 7-10 cm above the top and bend it with pliers.

  7. Lubricate the bottom of the sides with PVA glue and insert it into the bottom of the paper cone.
  You can additionally stuff crumpled paper (newspaper) inside the cone so that the cone itself
  not deformed during subsequent manipulations.
  8. In a piece of lining fabric 10x10 cm, make a hole, put it on the wire
  from the bottom and gently glue PVA glue to the bottom, covering the entire foam.
  For insurance, you can wrap the edges of the fabric along the bottom of the cone with several turns of thread.
  I wrapped the entire cone with a thin thread lubricated with PVA glue for a better later
  clutch with the main thread.

  9. Fasten the green thread at the base of the cone, grease the cone
  approximately 2 cm with PVA glue and wrap tightly with thread so that there are no gaps.
  Then grease and wrap the next 2 cm, etc.
  I did just so that it was more convenient to hold the product and not to get my hands dirty.

  That's it ...

  10. The turn came to the pot. Prepare the required capacity:
  if the pot is small - the tree can fall over, and too large - ugly.
I cut a yogurt cup.

  The bottom was covered with 8x8 cm lining fabric, glued to PVA.
  Boka pasted over with burlap. Excess burlap bent into the pot.

  11. Then you need to prepare a solution of gypsum, diluting it with water to a pasty state.
  Here I cheated a little: I added a handful of river sand to the finished solution - and the gypsum saved, and the solution turned out to be harder, which means the stability of the future product is better.

  The pot must be filled with gypsum mortar almost to the top.
  12. It is time to insert the base of the tree trunk and the center of the pot and ram the solution around it.
  You can use the blunt end of the pencil by first wrapping it with cellophane.
  The solution "settles" and a place for "snow" appears. Now we need to leave our product for a couple of hours or until the next day, so that, as it should, the solution hardens.
  I had to put the tree "in the corner" to save.
  Here I got so carried away that I forgot about the camera
  13. Decorate the pot. The junction of the burlap can be taped.
  Lay a synthetic winterizer around the trunk.
  Glue the “Moment” glue to the tape on top of the pot and around the base.
  Glue bows and sequins on request.
  Under the tree - “gifts” from candy wrappers from sweets (inside also candy wrappers).

  14. The final stage: the decoration of the Christmas tree itself. Glue the tape first
  on the bottom of the cone to additionally fix the threads and cover up possible flaws.
  Then Christmas beads, individual beads, sequins, bows - and all for the moment glue
  (PVA dries for a long time).
  Here is our beauty with girlfriends from "grass" and "swan fluff"

  And two more babies are born :)

  And she herself has already taken pride of place in the computer class and reminds my students that New Year is coming and it's time to take tests

P.S. Thank you for attention.
  This is my first master class. A lot of work, more ideas.
  Already see my mistakes and lack of photos, I promise to correct

The Christmas tree is an integral attribute of the New Year. On this holiday, I would like to please you with a handmade gift. A great idea would be to make a topiary Christmas tree with your own hands.

Coffee tree

The options for making topiary in the form of a herringbone can be an unlimited number, as far as human imagination allows. The most universal topiary is coffee, but what if you make it in the shape of a herringbone? In this workshop, step-by-step photos of the manufacturing process will be presented.

First you need to make a cone out of cardboard or thick paper. As a basis, you can use paper, newspaper, fabric or cotton, the main thing is to push it all inside. How to make a cone: a sheet of paper needs to be folded in the form of a bag or you can first use a compass to designate a diagram. The blank is glued with an overlap using a heat gun, ordinary glue, adhesive tape (you can use double-sided) or fastened with a stapler.

The cone can be planted on a paper cup for coffee. Joints are glued with PVA or other suitable adhesive.

The cone is wrapped with twine, it is glued to double-sided tape or to the moment.

A bow from a golden ribbon is tied to the top of the tree. Instead of a bow, there can be any other decor.

From the bottom edge the cone is glued over with coffee beans. How many rows to do, each one decides for himself, but you can lay out three or four rows, and then leave the twine. The first layer dries in about half an hour and only after drying can the next layer be glued.

Now the second layer of grains is glued.

The more chaotic, the better. So the topiary will look more voluminous. If you wish, you can color the grains with acrylic.

Now you can proceed to the decor of the cone. Bows are made of a ribbon, for example, of silver color and glued with hot glue, grains are glued to the center of the bows. You can arrange the decor arbitrarily.

The coffee tree is ready.

Another variation would be a Christmas tree with a trunk made of a tube or branch and planted in a pot. This is done like the standard topiary, it differs only in design.

Other decor options for coffee trees are presented below:

Sisal product

An interesting option would be to make a sisal Christmas tree. What is sisal? This material is made from the leaves of a bush - Mexican agave. Its fibers are very hard, coarse and very strong. For the manufacture of fiber does not require special technology. Its main purpose is to create decorative crafts, various brushes, washcloths, all kinds of ropes and ropes.

If you want to create a New Year’s topiary from sisal, then you need to stock up with spruce needles and the corresponding decor elements: tinsel, beaten Christmas toys, confetti, etc. The sisal tree is made like any other tree of happiness. The only difference is the shape of the crown. The sisal tree will be a great gift for relatives or colleagues.

The crown of the tree is made of dense material, rolled into a cone. Tinsel, rain, bows, miniature toys are glued or strengthened with decorative needles on it. Also, a sisal tree can be an excellent lamp if you attach a garland to the form.

If it is difficult to independently choose the option of its design, then photographs of finished works can help:

If the top of the tree is bent a little, it will resemble a tree from a magical forest and will surely appeal to both a child and an adult. It can be presented or put as an interior decor in your own apartment. A spectacular Christmas tree made of sisal will certainly create a festive atmosphere in the house. Stand decoration can be varied: cones, spruce needles, tinsel, ribbons and beads.

Christmas tree topiary trees look especially beautiful if they are decorated with various small decorative elements. The option may be this: beads or beads are strung on a thread or wire and wrapped in a spiral product. The same can be easily done with a thin satin, brocade or other decorative ribbon, lace or braid.

Artificial snow can be glued to the tree or pot. It can be bought at a store or made from cotton wool. You can also cut out small snowflakes and stick on a tree. The gaps between the ribbons can be filled with small balls or bows. Not only Christmas trees decorated with small details will look beautiful, but also trees made of sisal balls. The only difference is that the surface of the topiary will be uneven. You can place larger balls at the base, and small balls at the crown. Simple and tasteful.

Sisal provides great opportunities for creativity. In the master classes presented below, you can see various designs and ways to create a New Year tree:

New Year's Topiary. Workshop with step by step photos.

Author: Tyagina Tatyana Eruslanovna, teacher of kindergarten No. 7 of the Kiselevsky urban district, Kemerovo region, Russia.
  The master class is designed for children of senior school age, teachers, parents and people involved in creativity.
Appointment:  This master class is designed to make a tree of happiness - a topiary, which can serve not only as an interior decoration, but also become an excellent New Year's gift.
Goal:  making New Year's topiary from improvised means.
Tasks: to acquaint with the technology of topiary execution, develop creative imagination, fantasy; to inculcate an aesthetic taste, develop hand motility, perseverance; cultivate accuracy when performing work.

Initially, a garden with decorative trimmed plants and sculptures created from artistically trimmed trees was called a topiary. Topiary art has a long history. So, even in Ancient Egypt and Persia, the ability to give geometric shapes to bushes and trees was valued. And the most famous example of a topiary garden is the hanging gardens of Babylon in Babylon - one of the seven wonders of the world. And now, topiary (or European tree) is the name for small original trees, for the manufacture of which natural and artificial materials are used. The topiary is decorative in nature, and it depends only on the author’s imagination what it will be made of. And the size of the topiary can be from 10-15 centimeters to half a meter.
Materials and tools for the manufacture of New Year's topiary:  not a large pot, branch or stick 40 cm, newspaper, thread with a needle, gypsum, faux white fur, Christmas beads, artificial pine branch (brush) sold by the meter, nippers, scissors, glue gun, Moment glue, decorative braid green and red, red bow, decorative silver branch, cones, white gouache or corrector, a variety of New Year's mini toys.
Working process:
  1. We make the basis for the topiary: from a newspaper we form a ball with a diameter of 10 cm and wrap it with threads for strength.

  2. We make a hole in the ball, insert the branch and fix it with hot glue. Wrap the branch with green tape.

  3. Fill the pot with diluted gypsum and immerse the topiary base in it. There is not much to wait for the gypsum to freeze.

  4. We decorate the topiary trunk with Christmas beads with glue.

  5. We proceed to the manufacture of crown topiary. We cut the artificial pine brush with nippers into 17 cm segments. 40 such segments took to my topiary. It all depends on what diameter your ball will be.

  6. Bend the pine segments in half.

  7. The result is such fluffy lumps.

   8. Using hot glue we fix the pine fluffy lumps tightly to each other on a ball. You need to start from the bottom of the ball.

  9. It turns out such a crown.

  10. Now decorate the crown of the topiary. For this you will need: cones, proofreader or white gouache, various New Year mini-souvenirs, decorative silver branch.

11. The ends of the cones are covered with a corrector (you can use white gouache).

  12. Glue the colored cones between the pine branches.

  13. We glue New Year's mini-toys on the crown.

  14. Glue decorative silver twigs between pine. Corrector or white gouache cover the tips of pine needles.

  15. Proceed to decorate the pot. To do this, you will need: white faux fur, red braid, large silver beads, a pair of New Year's mini toys (gifts), needles from a pine brush.

  16. From white fur we cut out a "fur coat" for a pot. The pattern depends on the shape of your pot.

  17. We sew the undercut and with the help of hot glue we fix the “coat” on the pot. We tie the "fur coat" with red ribbon and decorate with a bow.

  18. Put pine needles in a pot, then beads and gifts.

  19. A wonderful New Year's gift for relatives and friends is ready.

We show step by step how to make small-sized sisal balls with your own hands. Sisal balls are used to create a topiary or decorative Christmas trees, as well as for other creative works. We offer the simplest and fastest manufacturing method. Take it away!

Sisal is a natural fiber that is isolated from the fresh leaves of an agave sisal plant. The material is widely used for almost any crafts - due to its unique properties, a variety of colors and application possibilities. All information about sisal (article in development).

How to make sisal balls step by step

Stage 1. Roll up the balls.  From a common sheet of sisal we select a bundle of fibers and intensively roll up our palms, give the material a spherical shape. If the size of the ball was less than necessary, add more fibers and roll. We form the required amount of material.

For the topiary, sisal balls of the same color are used, but fibers of 2, 3 or even 4 colors can also be combined. Experiment!

Stage 2. Work with glue.  Rolled sisal balls can crumble, fall apart and are inconvenient to use in work. To strengthen the balls, it is necessary to glue them: we smear one palm with PVA glue, roll the balls from sisal repeatedly. After drying, the product acquires a frame and does not fall apart.

PVA glue is environmentally friendly, allergic reactions or harm to the skin are excluded. After you finish the job, wash your hands with soap and water, the glue is washed off easily.

Stage 3. Trimming excess fiber. Sisal for topiary or decor is a fairly stiff and unyielding fiber. That is why, even after gluing, individual threads stick out shapelessly. To fix this, it is necessary, after the balls have dried, each to inspect and cut the protruding fibers, as well as to prove those products that are flattened or lost their shape.
