Irish lace crochet tutorial. Beret. Irish lace. My first experience... Creating a lace element

To assemble an Irish beret, we need the following materials: a beret pattern, elements (flowers, leaves), foam plastic (4 cm wide) covered with tape, pins with a bead at the end.
We place the pattern on top of the foam, pin the elements to the pattern (wrong side up) and the foam.

We lay out the elements in a full circle with a diameter of 28-30 cm (depending on the size of the head and the size of the beret).
We connect the elements with an irregular mesh. The direction of knitting is in the circle (this is important), especially along the edge of the circle.

Try to ensure that the mesh along the edges does not stretch into a line, but has an “unfinished look” in the form of rounded arches.
Inside the circle, the knitting direction can be arbitrary.

Inner circle. The inner circumference (girth) of your head minus 2 cm for a tight fit. If this is a standard head circumference 56-2=54 cm.
So the diameter of the small circle is 16-18 cm.
It is convenient to assemble, as it were, two circles, one internal and the other external

On the beret, these two directions are connected by different colors (outer with melange thread, inner with green thread).

After we have split the fabric from the pattern, it should not tighten and the mesh should not spring back to the elements.
Thread the ends of the threads into the elements

This is what the front side of a large circle looks like

This is what the front side of the inner circle looks like.

Place two circles with right sides facing each other

We connect the circles in this way: sc captures the loops of both circles (capture under the arch), ch 5. The seam should be sufficiently flexible and in no case should it tighten the fabric.

The headband is knitted on a machine (brazer 7 class, density 4) 20 stitches in stockinette stitch, 230-240 rows of iris. You can knit it on thin knitting needles, calculating the density yourself.
Tie the headband in the same way as you connected both circles. Sew the short ends of the headband with a knitted seam (blind loops). The rim itself will curl beautifully into a roll. Can only be fixed at the place where the short ends are sewn together.
Thread the threads.

Orthopedic pillows will help ensure the correct position of the head during sleep. Their porous structure allows them to adapt to the sleeping position.

Beret with flowers, knitted using Irish lace technique. Author Natalya Lyasotskaya, Irkutsk.

To knit this product, I chose hooks measuring 1.5 - 2 mm. The first hook is for knitting the mesh, the second is for knitting elements. The yarn used is “Iris” and "Coco". You can choose any hook size, as well as thread colors.

Natalya wrote:"A little bit about yourself. My name is Natalya, I live and work in Siberia, in the city of Irkutsk. I have three children. Lawyer by profession. My hobbies are knitting, sewing, drawing, in general, everything related to creativity with my own hands. I have been knitting since I was 6 years old. Over the last year I have become interested in crocheting in the Irish style and with a fork, and I present to you my products.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Description: two roses knitted from yarn Coco .

We knit two roses according to the following pattern. We collect 6 air loops. One lifting loop, a row of single crochets.

We do not turn the work over, but continue to knit in the round. 3 lifting loops. 1 tbsp. from 1n, vp and so on in a circle. To prevent knitting in the circle from tightening, we knit two stitches on the curves. with 1n from 1 air.p.

We knit 2 rows of stitches in a circle. b.n. This is the middle of the rose.

Visually we divide our oval in half and knit 12 treble crochets, through 1 chain stitch, alternating - 1 chain stitch, chain stitch. Turn the knitting over and knit 1 row of st.b.n.

Starting to knit the 2nd row, we make 1 lifting loop, skip 1 loop and knit further st. b.n. We do not knit 5 loops to the end. We return in the next row of st.b.n. We knit the next row as the previous one, with decreases. And so we knit 8 rows.

It didn't turn out very nice, the corners are visible. Now we need to smooth them out. We knit a row of st.b.n. to the very end, that is, we go down to the first row. The first petal is ready. Next we knit a lattice from 1 tbsp. s1n, air.p., after 1 air.p. We knit a row of st.b.n.

Then you can knit the leaves according to the pattern with the following description:

We collect a chain of 13 air loops. We start the next row with the eleventh loop.

We knit like this: 2 single crochets, 2 half double crochets, 2 double crochets, 2 double crochets together, again 2 double crochets together. From the last loop we knit 6 double crochets.

Without turning the product over, we tie the entire sheet in the opposite direction “crawfish step”. To add texture, you can knit a leaf vein in the middle. To do this, hold the thread from the bottom of the leaf and insert the hook all the way through, catching the thread from below.

We pull out the thread and, choosing the next hole in the chain, again pierce the leaf through. So we continue until the loop from which 6 stitches are knitted.

We take the hook out of the loop and stick it in at the bottom of the leaf. Having hooked the loop, we pull it to the wrong side. Cut the thread. Tighten the knot and hide the thread under several knitted loops.

To obtain a sheet curved in a different direction, first we knit a row with forked stitches, and after “6 loops from one” - double ones.

The iris yarn is green, in my case multi-colored.

I knitted 6 of these leaves for the beret.

Then we proceed to knitting other leaves according to the following pattern from the same yarn as the previous leaves. I also knitted 6 of them.

We knit an initial chain of 15 loops.

We knit the first starting row, the first loop is on our hook, the second behind it is a lifting loop for the next row, insert a hook into the next loop and then knit single crochets into each loop of the chain.

We reach the end of the chain, to form a round edge, you need to tie a chain around it and hide the tail in parallel, for this we knit two single crochets in the last loop. then two air loops (they will form a fold), then insert the hook into the other side of the braid, as if going around it, while laying a tail of thread on top, as if tying it and thereby removing it inside the knitting.

Next, we knit with single crochets straight into each stitch of the cast-on chain, while tying the tail. Before reaching 2-3 loops to the end of the knitting, we will hide the tail, to do this we will stretch it out a little, as if gathering the knitting and cut it off,

then with both hands we straighten the gathered element - the tail is hidden inside! turn the knitting over and start knitting the second row, making one air loop to lift the row.

Next, we knit single crochets, turning the knitting over according to the pattern, each time without knitting 2-3 loops to the end, forming the teeth of the leaf. In the corner of the sheet where we made 2 air loops, we knit one single crochet + two air loops + one single crochet.

We complete the leaf in the corner, grab a loop on the corner, turn the leaf over to the wrong side and fasten the thread there using a single crochet on the knot. We knit with a connecting post. We cut the tail 5-10 cm and pull out the thread.

We take a needle, thin, with an eye that fits your yarn and insert it inside the motif, so that it is not visible from the front side, insert the tail into it and pull the thread inside the motif.

Remove the needle, pull the tail out with your hand and cut it closer to the edge. We straighten the leaf, the tail is hidden.

This motif is good for filling the space of a product between larger motifs.

1st row: We close the chain of 8 air loops into a ring.

2nd row: on the ring we knit 10 sc (single crochet).

3rd row: 1 lifting loop, * (SC, 2 C2H) in a loop (!), 1 VP, (2 C2H, SC, half-column) in the next loop *, repeat from * to *. It turns out only 5 petals.

Knitting an Irish beret

This Irish beret is crocheted No. 2

To assemble an Irish beret, we need materials: a beret pattern, elements (flowers, leaves), polystyrene covered with tape, pins with a bead at the end.
We place the pattern on top of the foam, pin the elements to the pattern (wrong side up) and the foam.

We lay out the elements that we crocheted (leaves, flowers) on a full circle with a diameter of 28-30 cm (depending on the size of the head and the size of the beret).
We connect the elements with an irregular mesh, knitting in a circular direction, especially along the edge of the circle. Try to ensure that the mesh at the edges does not stretch into a line, but has an unfinished appearance in the form of rounded arches. Inside the circle, the knitting direction can be arbitrary.

The inner circumference (girth) of your head minus 2 cm for a tight fit. If this is a standard head circumference 56-2=54 cm.
So the diameter of the small circle is 16-18 cm.

After both circles are connected, fold them with their front sides facing each other and connect them together. The seam should be sufficiently flexible and in no case should it tighten the fabric. The final touch is to tie a headband to our Irish beret.

The beauty of ancient Irish lace is mesmerizing, but how can you replicate it?
I made a selection for the theme of a hat, knitted with ancient Irish lace. Please note that almost all elements are knitted using bourdon, i.e. additional thread.
Now in order:

1. the first element of Irish lace on a bourdon leaf

2. chrysanthemum flower, also knitted with Irish lace on bourdon

3. now the middle of this chrysanthemum

7. Small lop-eared flower.
I haven’t found such a diagram at all, but it should look something like this:

Instead of 3 and 6 darlings, you need to knit bent petals and also a selection of “this” flower as a replacement. This will not make the model lose its charm at all, but on the contrary, it will help the craftswoman to show her creative artistic approach
