Fancy knitwear. Knitting is unusual, but beautiful. Creative ideas for needlework. Extraordinary knitting.

Good afternoon friends!

Have you ever seen such beauty - such unusual plaids?

Until recently, I have not seen anything like this, more often they knit blankets from motifs or a whole canvas with some interesting pattern. For example, there are bright ones on our blog.

The collection of unusual knitted blankets presented today was tracked for some time in my folders, since none of them have any patterns or descriptions. This is a photo of ready-made blankets from etsy.com and foreign magazines. Now, all the same, I decided to come to grips with myself and think about how you can knit such unusual rugs with my own hands. Everything turned out to be brilliantly simple!

The principle of knitting unusual blankets from stripes

These beautiful two- and multi-color knitted plaids are most likely suitable for their intended purpose, corresponding to their name: to hide or wrap themselves in them on cold evenings in front of a TV with a cup of coffee. I would definitely come in handy when I'm sitting at the computer in the days of severe frost outside the window.

Therefore, their size may not be large and can be connected relatively quickly, especially since there is no need to combine motives.

I don’t know how they would look on the sofa as bedspreads, it’s a matter of taste, of course.

You can take any type of half-wool, acrylic, or blended yarn for knitting and a hook corresponding to its thickness. Yes, I’m talking about unusual crocheted rugs, although this can be knitted with knitting needles.

How to knit a plaid, probably, it’s already clear from the photo: in almost each of them, first, hotel long narrow stripes are knitted along the fabric, i.e. along its longest side, some kind of pattern, and then they are tied around the perimeter with yarn of a different color. I especially like the combination of any color with white.

An interesting and unusual result is a strapping that gives rounded or pointed toes on each of the strips.

Ready-made tied strips are sewn together, sometimes, depending on the pattern, the connection is performed during knitting.

But the very patterns of these plaids can be either very simple or unusual, the latter are just of particular interest.

Patterns for unusual stripes

Plaid with irish flowers

This beautiful blanket is crocheted with a whole fabric in single crochet or crochet columns, alternating the color of the yarn in rows. On top of the finished blanket, flowers connected using the Irish lace technique are sewn, the patterns can be taken even from those that I used when knitting napkins, here.

The edge of the plaid is decorated with brushes.

By the way, here is an option for a plaid with knitting needles. We have another beautiful one, take a look.

Simple plaid of stripes

Look, what a chic unusual crocheted plaid looks original, but it is surprisingly simple knitted! To him and shemka found.

The stripes are crocheted with yarn of light green color, at the ends to get round toes, 6 needles to be crocheted. Tied in white.

Plaids with openwork tracks

In the center of this beauty are openwork paths. I like all the options: a plaid in delicate green tones, and bright, knitted from melange yarn.

The pattern for knitting openwork tracks can be borrowed from the border with which I decorated my own.

And in the next enlarged photo you can clearly see how to tie them with double crochets: three in the arches of the border.

Beautiful plaid with a fur tie in the center of the stripes

Multi-colored plaid of unusual beauty! In the center of the plaid there is a fluffy path connected with a fur pattern, and even from colored melange yarn.

When tying, you can use different patterns, dream up, alternating columns and cones.

Blankets with motif and fillet paths

As an option of interesting plaids - to make strips of small round motifs or to knit in the technique of sirloin knitting using simple plain patterns.

Fancy plaids from connected rings

I was sick with this technique from the rings a few years ago when I saw the idea of \u200b\u200ban unusual napkin and tied it to myself. About a beautiful unusual knitted blanket, that in the photo on the right, I also told. These my stories about the plaid and about my napkin have been surfing the Internet for a long time on different sites, but only search engines do not lead to my

Plaid with wicker

I thought for a long time how to knit this interesting plaid, and then I enlarged the photo strongly and realized that in the middle part there are three ordinary straight narrow strips of single crochet columns woven into a braid.

It turns out very original.

Let me remind you that we have similar weaving methods.

Just, I don’t know how to fix them and process them along the edge, but I think that it will be possible to understand the process.

Here are my ideas for you for unusual crocheted rugs that are not difficult to do with your own hands.

Did you like it?

I have collected a collection of all the blankets of our blog in this video. Links to diagrams and descriptions can be found in.

Fancy knitting

This article is for those who already knit for sale, but are dissatisfied with their earnings. You may be interested in unusual knitting techniques that can be used both independently and in combination with the usual ones.

Some of them came to us from ancient times, others appeared recently. You are probably familiar with some, you have never heard of others before.

Unusual knitting techniques for craftsmen of the XXI century

I must say right away that this is just a brief description of the different types of needlework by the names of which you can easily find training schemes and videos on the Internet. Tools for them are also easy to buy through the World Wide Web, order a master or even make it yourself. Here is the list itself:

  1. Brioche.
  2. Shortened rows.
  3. On the fork.
  4. Irish
  5. Freeform.
  6. Nooking.
  7. Tunisian
  8. Tunisian double-sided hooks.
  9. Pooling
  10. Needle.

And now about each method a little more.

Brioche (brioche stitch two color) - two-color double-sided knitting, suitable for creating a wide variety of products from clothing to rugs.

Short rows (elongated rows, rotary knitting) - allows you to create amazingly beautiful and completely unusual things with knitting needles. Also suitable for everything from shawls and slippers to plaids and cardigans.

On a fork - for this, a hook and a fork are used - a wire arc in the shape of the letter “U”. Openwork stripes crocheted on it are removed and connected together. This technique is suitable for shawls, scarves, openwork blouses, rugs, as well as for decorating products connected in other ways.

Irish knitting (Irish lace, typesetting lace). Individual elements (motifs) are tied with a hook, usually plant ones, which are assembled into a single canvas and connected. A hook or needle is used for this. This is how shawls, blouses, summer dresses, swimwear, underwear are made.

Freeform (Freeform). Appeared in the twentieth century, thanks to Prudence Mapston, who showed the world that irregular knitting without rules and patterns can be incredibly beautiful. It, like the Irish, is knitted from individual motifs and assembled into a single canvas. A variety of techniques, styles, thicknesses, as well as additional elements such as rhinestones, beads, ribbons, etc. are welcomed in one product. Suitable not only for clothes and rugs, but also for paintings, bags and various decor items.

Knocking - products are knitted with a special needle with a hook at the end. It turns out a dense elastic fabric that looks like knitted on knitting needles. This technique is convenient to knit socks, mittens, toys and other small gizmos.

Tunisian -an unusual way of crocheting a long length (at least 30 cm) with a stop at the end so that the loops do not get lost during operation. During operation, the fabric is not turned - knit first from right to left, then from left to right. A product of this knitting keeps its shape perfectly, so that high-quality slippers, rugs, bags, coats are obtained from it.

Tunisian double-sided hooks. For it, two double-sided hooks are taken, and each row is knitted with its own hook and, often, with its own color. Both of these unusual crochet techniques are now in fashion, used both on their own and in combination with others when you need a part that holds its shape well.

Pooling - knitting sectional yarn on knitting needles not with stains familiar to us, but with vertical stripes or other geometric patterns.

Needle (digging, nalbinding). Surely, knitting with a thick wooden or bone needle is the most ancient way to create a fabric from individual threads. This needlework has survived in the Russian north and in the north of Western Europe. We call digging, there nalbinding. A couple of years ago, in the Museum of Archeology of Moscow, I photographed a medieval thing related in this way:

And these are modern socks:

These are, of course, not all methods of knitting with unusual techniques, there are many more, so this article will most likely have a sequel. If you know knitting methods that are not mentioned in this article, write in the comments, I will add them to the following.

My mother graduated from the famous “techno ladder” with a degree in “light industry technologist” and in professional and personal interests, studied a lot of different types of knitting. And even taught me - when my daughter was born, I tied her a set - a jacket, hat and scarf. But now is not about that.

Knitted pouf

To begin with, this decor element has not just gained its popularity. Given that few can boast of the immense size of real estate, the use of knitted pouffes is not only beautiful, but also convenient. They can become a bright accent in the interior and take up little space. If you choose the right material and pattern, such a pouf may well replace the classic furniture and will delight you for a long time.

Organizer

Knitted organizers will save a lot of space and decorate your interior. It doesn’t matter, do you prefer a hook or knitting needles - with the right choice of yarn, the thing will turn out not only beautiful, but also functional. Such organizers will look stylish in the bathroom, on the dressing table, in the nursery and even in the workplace. In addition, they are “healthier” than plastic and do not require special care.

Plaid

Knitted blankets in the list of the most trending things occupy a very special place. They can even make boring interiors cozy (remember the Scandinavian style of hugg, which is impossible to imagine without such items). A large knitted warm blanket will become an indispensable thing in the cold season of the house, and in the warm season - during a trip out of town.

Planter

For lovers of home plants, there is also an interesting idea. If you tie the pot along the contour, leaving several loose threads for fastening, you get an original planter that not only saves the plant from drafts, but also adds elegance to the interior.

Cup warmers, cup holders and hot coasters

There are no neat owners who would not be annoyed by the stains remaining on the furniture from the glasses. When it comes to hot drinks and dishes, the surface of the table or armrest may swell from overheating or crack. Knitted cup holders and hot coasters can easily solve the problem. Do not forget about the warmers on the cup - they will not only allow you to keep the warmth of your drink, but also absorb excess liquid if it accidentally spills.

Shade

Unusual lampshades are now appreciated not only by ordinary people, but also by designers. Even if your interior is very concise and restrained, a small accent in the form of a knitted lampshade will be more than appropriate. Thanks to a wide selection of yarn and a variety of patterns, you can easily choose the right tone and texture.

Pillow

What could be more comfortable than a large warm blanket? Only a pillow! In addition to its direct purpose, it will serve as an excellent element of decor. Do not be afraid to put pillows on the floor, on chairs, armchairs, window sills or sofas. There are too many of them!

A bag

A small knitted clutch bag or a spacious bag-bag is not only stylish, but also environmentally friendly. If you choose hard yarn and a small looped step, the product will be very durable and will keep its shape well. If, on the contrary, you give preference to soft yarn and coarse knitting, you get a capacious volumetric shopping bag.

Carpet

Hand-knitted carpets are a new trend in home decor. They are considered a designer thing for "lazy people". In addition to large bamboo knitting needles, such carpets are knitted with decorative yarn. Due to the size of the thread, it is easy to get a fairly large product in the shortest possible time.

Chair cover

Everyone has become accustomed to tying stools or chairs, which has already become almost traditional for lovers of knitting. But the tying of large armchairs is something new and very original.

Trends in recent years - knitwear in the interior of the house. You can connect a lot: blankets, wraps for armchairs and a sofa, rugs, pillows. Things crocheted look especially impressive. It’s easy to master the crochet technique, as a result you will complement the interior of your home with cozy things that can warm you in the cold winter, and cheer you up in inclement autumn weather.

If we knit in a big way, so knit furniture. The main thing is to choose the right yarn and hook. The larger they are, the more spectacular, the pattern will be more prominent. You can knit square, round poufs for the house by tying a wooden or foam frame. You can also update chairs, armchairs by hiding them in a knitted cover.

Further more. The sofa in the new knitted "clothes" will fit perfectly into the country interior, allowing a lot of knitted things in the room. If you are captivated by knitting, you can create your own unique knitted products for the interior - for example, to tie ... a wall. Or part of the wall. Such an unusual decor will take a vintage, rustic styles. And you can knit either with knitting needles or crochet, and ... with your hands. The knitting technique without knitting needles is gaining more and more fans every year.
